Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) is seeking an experienced Senior Director of Production for it's UK & European operations. This senior position will report into the Vice President, Production Management & Operations, UK & Europe. Key responsibilities include having a multi-sport view across a variety of sports on our platforms, supporting strategy, planning and delivery of content from the Olympics to Motorsport, Snooker, Tennis, Golf, Sailing, Wintersport and much more. This is a fast paced multi-tasking work environment, so proven experience in Senior Production Management, budget management and a solution focused mindset will be crucial to this role.
Your Role Accountabilities…
• Lead and manage the planning, execution and delivery of multi-sport content across the WBD Sports Europe platforms, aligning production activities with WBD's strategy, editorial vision & budget.
• Oversee the full production lifecycle from planning to post-production, ensuring projects meet deadlines and financial objectives & that internal facilities & operational resource are well balanced between sports.
• Manage the Production Management team across several sports and oversee the recruitment, onboarding, provisioning and payment of our freelance workforce including talent, commentators and crew members. Represent the department in all external workforce management workstreams and initiatives.
• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with freelance crews, vendors and external stakeholders, including federations and organising committees.
• Responsible for the annual Production budget & reporting across multiple sports. Work closely with the Vice President, Production Management & Operations on monthly forecasting and know and own the budgets so that quick decisions can be made if we need to increase spend on something or find efficiencies.
• Represent the Production department in meetings with key internal stakeholders such as Technology & Operations, IT, Finance, Digital, Legal, Talent, External workforce & Music Teams.
• Proactively manage and resolve issues as they arise, ensuring that potential conflicts are addressed and navigated effectively.
• Strong understanding and management of health and safety and security measures on productions. Ensuring all WBD policies are adhered to including all H&S protocols, risk assessments, first aid training and that relevant insurance is in place.
• Lead and support relevant Production Management projects and workstreams that feed into wider business needs as required.
• Lead the tender process for onsite broadcasts across key sports working closely with Procurement and liaise with facilities companies on the technical set up required whilst ensuring all required contracts are in place.
Qualifications & Experience…
• Significant proven experience in Senior production management and operations, with a strong background in overseeing sports productions across the UK and Europe
• Strong attention to detail and with a methodical approach to work and ability to manage several projects as once and meet tight deadlines.
• Excellent organisation, negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with senior leadership, creative teams, and external partners.
• Ability to act decisively, with a positive can-do attitude and strong problem-solving approach required
• Ability to work under pressure, handle last minute changes & execute evolving plans
• Strong technical knowledge related to sports television & digital production
• Strong contract negotiation and budget management skills
• Ability to handle confidential information and interact with high-level executives and talent
• Continually challenge the status quo, identify improved ways of working and efficiencies
• Forward thinking, strategic and solution focused mindset willing to make decisions and lead a team through change
Hybrid Working - This role is advertised as a Hybrid work model, that combines remote and in-office work, following our current company policy and to be agreed with your Line Manager.
