
Associate Editor - Young Readers

The Associate Editor oversees and supports the creation, development, and production of DC's Books for Young Readers as well as periodical comics for readers of all ages. This role contributes to editorial planning, talent coordination, and content review, ensuring that projects are developmentally appropriate, engaging, and aligned with DC's publishing standards.
Your Role Accountabilities…
• Assists Supervising Editor in the creation, development, and production of DC Comics original graphic novels for young readers.
• Edits original graphic novels and all ages monthly periodical comics under supervision.
• Identifies and recommends emerging and established talent; maintains relationships with current talent, agents, and other industry professionals.
• Identifies and recommends potential new projects, particularly those aimed at Early Readers, Middle Grade, and Young Adult book markets.
• Copyedits and proofreads content to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency.
• Ensures that all content is developmentally and thematically appropriate for the intended age group and reading levels.
• Generates vouchers and maintains contracts for talent as needed.
• Prepares solicitation materials, including writing synopses, back cover copy, and solicitation text as needed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience…
Work Experience
• At least five (5) years of relevant work experience as an Assistant Editor or above required.
Education, Professional Training, Technical Training or Certification
• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience required.
Knowledge and Skills
• Must have the ability to communicate effectively and tactfully (both verbally and in writing) with individuals at all levels of the organization.
• Must have the ability to organize, work well under time constraints, meet deadlines, and manage multiple tasks and project elements simultaneously.
• Must have the ability to pay close attention to details and work with minimal supervision.
• Copyediting and proofreading skills required.
• Knowledge of core comic book mythologies and terminology required.
• Knowledge of art, and the ability to discuss composition, color, and design required.
• Knowledge of book publishing young readers industry strongly preferred.
• Proficiency using Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat required.
• Proficiency using Adobe Creative Cloud software (primarily Photoshop) preferred.

• Must be able to travel as needed approximately 5% of the time.

Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery's total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $45,500.00 - $84,500.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros.
