Disney Junior Original Programming is responsible for developing and producing shorts, series and original movies for air. Disney Junior is the first entrance for children into the Disney family and entertains children aged 2 to 7 with magical stories that come from the heart. It is the channel behind such hits as ''Mickey Mouse Clubhouse,'' ''Doc McStuffins,'' ''Sofia the First,'' and ''Elena of Avalor.'' The Original Programming department encompasses development and current production as well as educational and outreach-based research.
Responsibilities:
A Day in the Life…
The intern for the Disney Junior team would be exposed to the day-to-day of the creative animation process from a network point of view in a high-volume office. Interest in animation production and/or story development for television is a must, as well as a desire to learn about children's entertainment. An intern would hone a creative eye towards both current series and development properties. Administrative experience is a plus as the intern will work closely with the Original Programming assistants to support executives and departmental needs. The intern would also gain valuable exposure to many departments within both Disney Channels Worldwide and the larger Walt Disney Company.
Responsibilities
• Research projects regarding both new talent and competitive landscape
• Read and review designs, scripts, animatics, animation and provide notes
• Read and review scripts, books, comics as requested and provide coverage
• Administrative duties such as filing, answering phones, scheduling meetings, data backup
• Daily industry trades coverage
Basic Qualifications:
What we are looking for…
• Particular interest in animation or children's entertainment
• Enthusiastic attitude and willingness to learn
• Mac and PC proficient
• Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Qualifications:
• Strong desire to work in preschool entertainment and animation
• At least some previous education or experience in a related field (TV, film, children's education/development)
Required Education
• Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university and taking at least one class, or be a recent graduate of an accredited college or university within the last six (6) months at time of application, or be currently participating in the Disney College Program, Disney Culinary Program or Disney Professional Internship Program
Preferred Education
• Candidates majoring in Television or Film, Animation, Writing, or Children's Psychology/Development preferred but not required.
Additional Information:
• At least 18 years of age
• Unrestricted work authorization
• Candidate must be available 40 hours/week from 9am -6pm PST from June through December/January
• Candidate must have the ability to provide own relocation, housing, and transportation to/from Burbank, CA
