The National Geographic Channels Scheduling Coordinator is responsible for inputting, maintaining and communicating the National Geographic Channel and Nat Geo Wild programming schedules. This includes the accurate creation of linear schedules, maintaining all schedule tracking, recommending and making updates to schedules and content plans and communicating schedules and any updates to key internal departments (i.e. Multiplatform Scheduling, Ad Sales, Broadcast Operations, Business Operations, NG Studios, Production, etc.). The coordinator must have an understanding of scheduling and have a keen interest in the factual television landscape.
Responsibilities:
• Implementation of the network schedule and program entry in internal scheduling database systems
• Work with Senior Director and Director of Scheduling to translate and implement overarching channel strategies into specific scheduling tactics
• Maintain knowledge of the network's priorities and performance, recommending changes to the schedule to help drive ratings and enrich viewing experience on both linear and non-linear platforms
• Coordinate and communicate plans with a variety of departments to ensure materials are ready, schedules are correct and that the requisite teams are fully up-to-date regarding current schedules and content roll-out
• Send formatted urgent schedule updates to listings providers; perform regular audit reports of listings and notify appropriate teams if inaccuracies are discovered. Communicate title, v-chip rating, and descriptions as appropriate.
• Maintain a broad knowledge of the factual television landscape and industry trends, tracking and providing reports and updates on competitor activity
• As required, provide support for wider National Geographic team and Programming department including cross training to support other channels and platforms and assisting on ad hoc projects
• Represent National Geographic and Nat Geo Wild Programming in departmental meetings.
• Provide scheduling information and support with our direct-to-consumer partners (Disney , Hulu, Star).
• Assist in multiplatform duties associated with linear content migrating onto nonlinear platforms (VOD, TV Everywhere, Hulu, MVPD partners' platforms).
Basic Qualifications:
• Highly organized with attention to detail
• Creative and strategic thinker
• Must be a self-starter with the ability to multi-task, prioritize workflow and work well in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communications skills both written and verbal
• Demonstrated experience with PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Knowledge of the following systems a plus: VPS, Keynote, Tableau, Adobe Analytics
Preferred Qualifications:
• Minimum 1 year in media related field
Preferred Education
• Bachelor's degree in Television or equivalent work experience
