Job Summary:
The Graphics Operator is responsible for assisting in the timely ingest, creation and management of graphics utilized on the Disney Media Networks, including Disney Channel Networks, Freeform, FX Networks, National Geographic Networks, and ABC Television Network. The position reports to the Graphics Manager. A successful candidate in this role must have the ability to self-motivate and work in a detail oriented fast paced multi-network environment. The person will interact with many internal and external Disney partners such as Marketing and Programming. Candidate must maintain a high level of customer service at all times. As a key point of contact for graphics ingest, final renders and playout of graphics, the role will also be accountable for maintaining graphics templates, loading playout device storages, manipulating playout automation and working with clients to ensure successful airing of graphics across all Disney Media Networks.
Responsibilities:
• Perform the processing and management of graphic media assets in a results-driven environment
• Responsible for graphics ingest activity, media preparation, delivery and playout
• Ingest & Quality Control (QC) of both finished and unfinished content
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical anomalies both prior to and during playout of graphics
• Prep and render graphical elements as needed for playout and customer preview
• Perform file delivery of finished graphics files to playout automation devices
• Work with clients including network Art Directors to create graphics templates and version final graphics using Adobe After Effects
• Manage graphics archives and metadata
• Manipulation of playout automation and secondary graphics event triggering
• Be a subject matter expert in all department databases and software (Imagine Versio, GRIP-IT, etc)
• Be a part of a strong, high functioning team that's able to effectively and efficiently execute assignments
• Ensure the prompt resolution of high level issues related to file integrity, media attributes, and content compliance
• Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and assist in documenting department processes
• Assist manager in developing, maintaining and enforcing media management, storage and content security policies
• Liaison with various departments and provide a high level of customer service
• Must be able to work wide ranging shifts including swing, weekends and holidays
Basic Qualifications:
• Results oriented with the ability to balance other business considerations
• Must be able to understand and calculate timecode quickly and effectively
• Must be a team player with exceptional communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills
• Understanding of basic video formats (SD, HD, UHD, HD-HDR and video and audio standards (SMPTE)
• Understanding of audio/video file formats and codecs
• Must work well with little or no supervision and have a strong attention to detail
• Familiar with production and/or post-production workflows and best practices
• Proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office (esp. Outlook and Excel)
• Proactive problem-solving and critical thinking skills
• Must be self-motivated, organized and communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing
Preferred Qualifications:
• Prior experience in television, post production or streaming media field
• Experience using Adobe Photoshop and/or After Effects
• Strong knowledge of television network operations that may include traffic planning and timing calculation, signal flow, measurement tools and signal elements
• Experience with playout automation systems
• Strong interest in current industry technologies and developments
• Familiarity with streaming media platforms (e.g., Netflix, Fire TV, Hulu, etc.)
• Graphics creation and management skills are a plus, including knowledge of industry trends in the graphics space
Required Education
Bachelor's degree or certificate in a field related to media, broadcast, engineering, communications, computer science OR equivalent work experience
