Job Summary:
Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures (WDSMP) seeks a Paralegal to provide general legal and support to WDSMP lawyers in routine to intermediate complexity projects. The successful candidate will assist WDSMP's attorneys with multi-faceted legal support, including contracts, policy, privacy, safety, intellectual property, compliance and clearance by working with the business leads and other professionals in the legal department. This includes reviewing content for compliance with policies, drafting legal correspondence and legal documents for attorney review; preparing summaries and reports; assisting with data entry and maintaining files and databases; assisting with due diligence related to transactional matters; and assisting the team with other special projects as may be necessary from time to time.
Responsibilities:
• Provides support to WDSMP attorneys in all aspects of legal matters with routine to intermediate complexity in the relevant practice area
• Assist WDSMP attorneys with drafting, preparing, proofing, and/or summarizing legal documents and correspondence
• Responsibility for document analysis, fact finding, verification, preparing and filing transactional documents, or conducting legal research
Basic Qualifications:
• Minimum of 1 – 2 years of experience as a paralegal or related field
• Paralegal certificate or equivalent experience in a law firm, media or technology company preferred
• Ability to handle a high volume of work
• Ability to exercise judgment to appropriately discern when to escalate issues
• Ability to build business acumen and understand core elements of the applicable business area(s).
• Must have superior organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize workload efficiently and effectively
• Strong PC skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
• Excellent written, verbal, analytical and organizational skills
• Familiarity with entertainment and motion picture industry
Preferred Qualifications:
• Paralegal certificate or equivalent experience in a law firm, media or technology company preferred
Required Education
• Bachelor's degree and/or qualification to be a paralegal by certification or education and work experience as set forth by the American Bar Association and any applicable state codes
