Job Summary:
Disney Digital Studio Services provides on-lot technical and creative services at the Walt Disney Studios. Our mission is to help our colleagues and filmmakers master the challenges and complexities of today's digital production, post - production, marketing and distribution workflows .
Disney Digital Studio Services has an immediate need for a Manager, Media Strategic Operations on our Quality Assurance team at its state-of-the-art facility in Burbank, California reporting to Sr. Manager of Quality Assurance.
Responsible for managing the Media Strategic Operations team that documents facility best practices, tests new technology prior to deployment into production and partners with technology teams to develop and implement technology solutions. The Manager, Media Strategic Operations yields significant process improvement, builds consensus, drives early quality planning and is a key contributor to successful implementation of management initiatives to improve quality and reduce time to market for Disney products along with delivering reliable, on-time, right first-time product.
Furthermore, the Manager, Media Strategic Operations will work with the other managers of Digital Studio lines of business to gather requirements and understand process improvements that will yield higher throughput while maintaining the high standards of quality and customer service that our partners have come to expect from the Digital Studio. All recommendations will be handed off to facility Lead Digital Operators for final vetting before deployment to day-to-day production.
The Strategic Operations team will work closely with developers of production tools providing feedback for enhancements, performing UAT and issue resolution. Once UAT is complete, team will work closely with leads to operationalize products/workflows.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee Media Strategic Operations team to drive change and improve overall media technology direction of facility
• Foster relationship with Technology and Development teams to improve first delivery of technology solutions implemented for the facility
• Develop, provide and manage media requirements to company Asset Management platforms for storage, distribution and delivery of content to/from the facility
• Manage the testing / R&D of new workflows prior to deployment to production. Includes variations of existing workflows and expansion of facility capabilities – generally through introduction of new technology solutions
• Primary point of contact with the development team and coordinator of UAT for production systems (examples include, but not limited to mastering in the cloud and Dispatch)
• Manage regression testing new software releases of 3rd party tools by staff used day to day in the facility in partnership with Studio Tech
• Provide documentation and train lead operators around tool usage, best practices, and error messages
• Prepare data supported reports and business process recommendations across all lines of business in the facility to senior management. Develop plans for how to effect change to improve performance, quality and throughput.
• Assist with Vendor Onboarding/Development and Support and drive improvements with Mastering & QC vendor partners to uphold quality
• Train and develop team members to enable them to be successful in their roles
Basic Qualifications:
• 7 years' experience in relevant fields, with 3-5 years' experience managing a team
• Familiarity with Mastering software systems (such as Colorfront, Resolve, Clipster, etc.) and Transcoding platforms
• Understanding of cloud agnostic media workflow
• Experience working with software developers and understanding of sprint planning models
• Ability to prepare and execute project plans, map out workflows and analyze process
• Earn the trust and respect of colleagues, partners, and customers
• Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
• Build relationships that advance the goals of the team
• Support change and an environment of continuous improvement
Required Education
• Bachelor's Degree in Film Studies, Business Administration, Technology or applicable studies
