Job Summary:
The Development Line Producer is responsible for the schedule, budget and resources for projects in
development at Disney Television Animation (DTVA). This role will supervise the production of preliminary
character design work, concept exploration, animation tests, and pilot episodes. During the development
phase this role will create development budgets and schedules, as well as preliminary budgets and
schedules for the potential series. This role is responsible for leading the production process and ensuring
successful delivery of animation tests, pilot episodes, and creative development work.
Responsibilities:
• Understand the creative goals of the show and balance the competing pressures of the
production: creative vision, schedule, and budget
• Establish a development budget and schedule for the earliest stages of production
• Partner with the Creative Executives at DTVA to hire resources for each project as necessary.
(including character designers, production companies, and other vendors)
• Assemble reference materials, scripts, treatments, and other creative write ups to pass along to
the artist or company doing the development work
• Communicate clearly and facilitate the flow of information up (to the Network and Production
Executive) and out (to the external production studio)
• Understand and manage the complexity of the show. Communicate with the creative executives
about the impact of choosing a particular animation style (including asset counts, character
density, animation quotas, and other metrics) and how those factors would impact the budget if
the show were to be greenlit
• Identify production companies that have the talent necessary to work on a DTVA show
• Liaison with the production studio doing the work – provide them with materials, access to key
creative talent at Disney, and other resources they will need to complete the development work
• Communicate the production schedule to the external production company and manage any
changes to that schedule
• Submit a bi-weekly production development report to the Network and TVA Executives
• Work with the Production Accountant to regularly to review current spending and anticipate
upcoming needs or changes in the spending plan
• Approve invoices from the vendor studio as needed
• Work with the Creative Executive to hire Freelance and Daily Call employees when needed.
Complete new hire or change of status paperwork as needed
• Support the Creative Executives as they prepare to pitch the show for a creative milestone
• Handoff the series to a Director of Production or Line Producer after the show is approved
• Be forward thinking: plan ahead and anticipate what will come next
• Manage expectations at the network and external production company
• Identify problems and propose solutions

Basic Qualifications:
• A minimum of 10 years' experience in Animation Production
• Proven ability to evaluate the creative talent of individual artists and production companies,
including evaluating art work, digital media, and technical capabilities
• Strong customer service, consultative and partnering skills
• Knowledge of 2D Animation, CG Animation, Visual Effects and/or Video game production
• Proven networking capabilities with professional organizations, creative groups, alumni
associations, etc.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Excellent organizational, verbal and writing skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to multitask
• Positive attitude and ability to be flexible in a non-static environment
• Proven ability to solve problems and interact with a wide variety of personalities
