Job Summary:
The Director, Post Production Finance is responsible for assisting the Executive Director, Post Production Finance in the day to day operations of the post production finance department, utilizing their deep understanding of prep/post-production accounting, the film making process, budgeting, estimating, production incentives and all aspects of complex multinational long-form content. The ideal candidate will have hands on experience with a variety of Feature Film productions (both foreign and domestic), managing freelance prep/post accounting teams, managing turnover of accounting from production to post accounting, managing incentive audits, incentive tracking and collection. The Director, Post Production Finance must also be familiar with and accustomed to working in environments with high levels of confidentiality, and be able to provide quick and accurate analysis for a variety of complex and evolving prep and post production challenges. Develop and train staff and freelance post accountants.
Responsibilities:
• Work with Executive Director, Production Finance to source and hire prep/post production accountants for Disney, Disney , 20th Century Studios, and Searchlight Pictures projects
• Assign and supervise freelance prep/post accountants to shows
• Anticipate post production finance set up needs and work with various studio departments (tax, labor relations, residuals, participations etc.) to implement systems and workflow
• Work with budgeting department and Studio Executives to prepare Dailies, Post & VFX budgets
• Review weekly Cost Report EFC's for accuracy, providing coverage of concerns to the Executive Director, Post Production Finance and Production, VFX and Post Production Executives
• Run weekly cost reports during post period
• Oversee preparation of post-production incentive initial & final applications and oversee final filings of production, contingent compensation and IP incentives
• Oversee incentive audits, incentive deliverables, tracking and collection of incentives
• Liaise with Talent Audit on guild audits of wrapped films
• Liaise with Residuals and Participations on residual and participation reports needed on wrap
• Continually evaluate policy and procedure for best practices and compliance
• Lead in-house field audits for projects under $100M gross
• Work with Production Finance to manage the production funding processes on Long-form projects during prep/post – including Foreign Currency hedging and FX Gain/Loss estimation
• Reconcile all funding and Production Incentives between production and corporate systems
• Review SAP Y-bill activity and aging; liaise with post accountants to ensure inclusion in cost
• Oversee quarterly close reporting to Studio Controllership and semi-annual Cognos tax reporting
• Provide support to Executive Director, Production Finance on special projects, as required
Basic Qualifications:
• 10 years of experience in Feature Film prep/post-production accounting
• Excellent oral and written communication skills required
• Diplomacy, discretion, confidentiality, versatility and reliability are critical
• Must have excellent organizational skills, be flexible, and have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with all levels of personnel
• Ability to prioritize work and be very detail oriented
• Strong computer skills and proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite (word, excel, PowerPoint, etc.) Production Accounting Software (PSL , Global Vista, SmartAccounting) and Movie Magic Budgeting
• SAP knowledge/skills a plus
