The Case Advocate role is responsible for engaging with employees and leaders to ensure a thorough interactive accommodations process occurs in accordance with Company policy and federal and state laws within DPECP. The Case Advocate and the employee will engage in an interactive process to assess their medical restriction or religious request and to identify possible accommodations. This role is a member of the Restrictions and Accommodations team in Employee Relations supporting DPECP.
Responsibilities:
• Facilitate, review and administratively document employees seeking a reasonable medical and/or religious accommodation in the work place to ensure compliance with all federal and state laws.
• Responsible for reviewing all accommodations requests in the workplace for both Occupational temporary and permanent work restrictions.
• Engages in interactive process with Cast Members and their area leaders by assessing essential job functions of the Cast Members' role.
• Manage the Cast Member accommodation request and provide recommendations and solutions to area leadership.
• Promote knowledge and understanding of the accommodations process for leaders and employees in regard to the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act, Family and Medical Leave Act and other compliance issues; as they relate to the accommodation process.
• Works in collaboration with Health Services, Labor Relations, Casting/Recruitment, Workforce Management and Workers' Compensation to provide reasonable Medical and Religious accommodations for Cast Members.
• Proactively identify, develop, implement, and sustain integrated strategies or solutions to align with client and/or business.
• Facilitate learnings to key stakeholders and assists with project work for Employee Relations relating to Restriction and Accommodation process.
Basic Qualifications:
• Demonstrated experience interacting with all levels of Cast Members (hourly, salaried, executive)
• Strong consultative skills (client service orientation, conflict resolution, analysis/synthesis of information, negotiation, etc.) with proven track record of integrating partners to accomplish objectives.
• Ability to work well and maintain professionalism under pressure
• Analytical, reporting, and presentation skills are required; must be able to confidently make recommendations to senior business leaders.
• Strong organizational, written & verbal communication / documentation skills
• Demonstrated ability to make judgment calls and sound, ethical decisions displaying a heightened level of responsibility, confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism.
• Ability to influence without authority / persuasion skills
• Ability to establish strong working relationships in a virtual environment
Preferred Qualifications:
• Medical / Workers' Compensation knowledge
• Advanced degree or certification
• Previous leadership experience
• Familiarity with Collective Bargaining Agreements
• Multilingual speaking/writing strongly preferred
• Background in disability management
• Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with the application of ADAAA & FMLA
Required Education
• Bachelor's Degree in business, human resources, and/or equivalent work experience
