We are looking for a designer that will utilize their creative skills and design experience to create original and innovative designs that meet and exceed internal and external client needs and expectations. Works collaboratively with all departments within the VStar structure to maintain a positive work environment and to ensure the highest quality products possible.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The VStar designer is an exciting mix of three dimensional environmental designer and graphic designer. Must have an understanding and experience in both types of design, but a strength in graphic design is desired for this current position.
Design assignments at VStar will include:
o Branded environments such as exhibits, experiential marketing, scenery for theatrical productions, and retail or themed environments.
o Graphic designs such as large format banners, textural finishes, illustrations, general signage, and occasional logo development.
o And more!
Daily tasks could include concept sketching, project renderings and illustrations, 3-d computer modeling, graphic layouts, graphic file management and processing. Could even be all things in the same day.
1. The VStar Designer produces all designs and creative work to successfully complete all projects, in part or as a whole, as assigned by the Creative Director. They utilize appropriate computer programs (i.e. Photoshop, Form Z, Sketchup) to create the needed level of design presentation as established by the Creative Director.
2. They are proficient at graphic design, graphic layout and manipulation. A working knowledge of graphic output process and materials a plus.
3. The VStar Designer can handle multiple deadlines and projects with minimal supervision. Accountable for designing within budget guidelines and providing Project Managers information necessary to administrate project budgets. Communicates any budget concerns, as soon as they are detected, to Design Director and Project Managers.
4. As a Designer, creates high quality computer designs, renderings and drawings that meet or exceed the client's needs/expectations, as well as production and construction documentation.
5. Collaborates with clients in a concise and professional manner.
6. S/he will collaborate with the Creative Director, Account Managers, Project Managers to define project needs, timelines and deliverables.
7. Serves as Art Director during the production phase of a project. Creates painter's elevations as needed for scenic artists. Provides shops with design assistance and follow-through. Collaborates with Production Leads to engineer various components of manufacturing projects. Provides hands-on assistance in the shop, if needed, to facilitate timely completion of projects. Updates all design documentation as changes occur and sees that every project is archived upon its completion.
8. Establishes and maintains positive relationships with outside vendors and clients.
ADDITIONAL PERFORMANCE CRITERIA
1. Ability to perform assigned responsibilities under minimal supervision while maintaining a positive attitude.
2. Establishes and maintains schedules.
3. Attention to detail without losing sight of the big picture.
4. Ability to travel if required.
5. High degree of flexibility, versatility and problem-solving skills
6. Helps others during peak workloads and short-deadlines.
7. A highly developed level of hand sketching, drawing, painting and drafting skills.
8. Computer experience- Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, AutoCAD or other 3d modeling preferred.
9. Adheres to and enforces all established safety procedures outlined in VPS Safety Manual.
10. All other duties as assigned
