The Royalty Manager will be responsible for the preparation, analysis, review and issuance of accurate and timely royalty statements to artists, Producers and other parties. Responsibilities include the review and application of contract terms into advance and royalty payments, managing payment requests, extraction, and interface of data relevant to the royalty and support systems, and preparation of royalty calculations support and analysis. This position will interact with various departments within the organization as well as external agents and authors.
What you'll do:
· Prepare timely royalty statements and related activity files:
· Review contracts and payee setup in the royalty system
· Review and analyze sales data prior to interfacing to the royalty system
· Post expenses/fees/deductions to the royalty system
· Complete initial and subsequent reviews of royalty statements to ensure accuracy
· Distribute statements to editorial teams and business units for review
· Calculate and record reserves for returns in accordance with contract terms and company policies
· Prepare manual adjustments and statements when required
· Interact with business units and other departments to resolve issues
· Process new contracts and amendments on a regular basis. Review, code and approve all advance and payment requests.
· Comply with US and foreign tax withholdings as well as reporting and filing requirements related to advances and royalty payments
· Handle statement recipients' inquiries and requests
· Prepare ad hoc reports/analyses as needed
What you'll bring:
· Must be detail-oriented, analytical, and exercise good judgement
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
· Highly proficient with Microsoft Excel, databases and system queries
· Excellent organizational skills. Effectively manages change, delays, and unexpected events
· Focuses on problem resolution
· Able to manage high volumes of data, meet deadlines, and multi-task
· Meets challenges with resourcefulness
· Motivated, disciplined, with high personal and professional standards of integrity and ethics
Ideal Experience/Education:
· 3+ years experience with royalty contracts, statement preparation, and accounting
· Music Royalty (Artist and Mechanical) experience preferred
· Proficiency with Royalty Share royalty platform are a plus
· Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance preferred
