The Digital Sales Manager is responsible for developing and implementing sales strategies to drive digital music revenue. The role builds and manages strong relationships with DSPs to ensure our catalog and new releases benefit from optimal placement, playlisting, discovery and consumption. The position collaborates with cross-functional teams, including marketing, production, licensing, and content creation, to optimize the distribution and promotion of digital music content. The position increases sales, expands market share, and strengthens relationships with digital music platforms and partners.
The role reports directly to the VP Sales and Marketing, and is full-time, onsite, based in VP Records' headquarters office in Jamaica Queens. The role also requires periodic travel.
Specific Responsibilities
Sales Strategy and Planning
• Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve revenue targets for digital music products and services.
Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer preferences to identify sales opportunities.
Digital Distribution
• Manage relationships with digital music platforms, streaming services, and online retailers.
• Coordinate with distribution partners to ensure timely releases and optimal visibility for label content.
Partnership Management
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key industry players to enhance sales opportunities.
• Be present and engaged at industry conferences in a way that directly supports the company's goals.
• Make purposeful visits to DSPs and other partners to meet the company's objectives.
Marketing and Promotion
• Work closely with the marketing team to create promotional campaigns and initiatives for digital music products.
• Utilize digital marketing channels to increase awareness, drive customer engagement and consumption on music streaming platforms.
• Anticipate, monitor and seize cultural moments and other anomalies that create opportunities for the company's catalog and front-line releases.
Sales Reporting and Analysis
• Track and analyze sales performance, providing regular reports to senior management.
• Use data-driven insights to identify areas for improvement, inform, and iteratively optimize sales strategies.
• Stay abreast of broader trends in streaming, music consumption and technology.
Qualifications
• 3 or more years of experience in digital music sales, digital accounts, commercial partnerships or DSP relations at a recorded music label, music distributor or artist management firm.
• Proven experience in a managerial role in a hands-on, collaborative, matrix environment.
• Direct relationships with artist and label relations, playlisting and editorial staff at DSPs.
• Well versed in the difference between selling catalog versus front-line repertoire.
• Strong general understanding of the music industry, digital distribution platforms, and licensing agreements.
• In depth expertise in how social media marketing, digital advertising, sync and other disciplines in music marketing come together to impact streaming sales.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret sales data and trends.
• Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field preferred.
• Appreciates diversity and loyalty, and brings a high level of integrity, accountability and work ethic.
• Passionate for reggae music, its creators and audience a plus.
Compensation
Competitive salary, incentive and benefits will be offered, commensurate with the role and the final hire's experience. Depending on the knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, education, network and location of the final hire, the base salary is anticipated in the range of $85,000 to $100,000.
