Summary
Our Finance team is looking for a superstar Production Payroll Accountant to join our VSI Los Angeles Office to fully manage the payroll process for production and staff employees. Come join a high-functioning team
This position will work onsite in our Sherman Oaks, CA office. You will report to the VSI Los Angeles' Financial Controller.
Key responsibilities
• Confirm and report worked hours of talent (actors, directors, third-party audio temps) for weekly payroll processing using the company's third-party payroll company; review hours worked and rates to ensure adherence to minimum guarantees.
• Work closely with the Production and Talent teams to ensure all information needed for payroll purposes is correct and up to date; coordinate with Human Resources on the collection of new employee paperwork.
• Acts as a liaison between the third-party payroll company, Finance and Human Resources departments to ensure payments are processed accurately and any issues are resolved in a timely manner.
• Assisting with year-end third-party payroll document preparation.
• Continually analyze processes, practices and systems, and provide recommendations for improvements, to ensure effective and efficient use of resources.
Skills and Experience
• Experience processing payroll for film or television productions required.
• Minimum 2 years production accounting experience highly desirable.
• Prior experience working with payroll software highly desirable and useful.
• Ability to work effectively with others closely including coworkers, freelancers, and third parties with the ability to build good working relationships.
• Able to multi-task, prioritize and meet tight deadlines.
• Ability to function in a high-volume department.
• Strong and efficient computer literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Adobe, QuickBooks, Google Sheets).
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work independently and proactively with high attention to detail.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills, multi-tasking, planning and risk management skills.
• Ability to work on tight deadlines and under pressure.
• Ability to work 40 (or more) hours per week to fulfil position duties and responsibilities.
