As an AGBO subsidiary, VC is well positioned to play a key role in AGBO's Universe strategy by providing pre-visualization, digital asset creation/management/utilization, post-production, and virtual production services across the AGBO slate.
As a Pipeline Supervisor you will be leading the studio's Pipeline Engineering team through software development to assist Visual Effects, Visualization, and Production teams. You will collaborate with department supervisors and creative teams to ensure shots can be delivered with the highest fidelity and in the most efficient workflow. In addition, you will be working closely with Production to design systems for smooth ingestion, tracking, and delivery of assets and frames to teams, vendors, and clients.
Responsibilities
Drive the design, implementation, maintenance, and evolution of a standardized pipeline for Animation and Visual Effects in both traditional and Unreal Engine workflows
Design, develop, deploy, review, and maintain custom tools/templates/scripts/systems, for both creative tasks and pipeline infrastructure, supporting the VFX, Visualization, and Production teams under the direction of Executive Leadership
Supervise Pipeline team members and provide direction to developers, technicians, and technical directors across multiple disciplines
Partner with Technical Supervisors to develop and maintain department pipelines
Partner with IT to determine technology and equipment needs for the studio
Extend and integrate the use of Ftrack and other database systems to meet production needs, including both desktop-native and browser-hosted applications and plugins.
Work with non-technical end users to help define requirements for new tools and pipeline processes to solve production problems
Lead a sprint team with agile principles: scope and bid tickets, participate in launch and review meetings, collaborate with product owners and production customers to prioritize work, communicate progress, and support team members with technical guidance.
Provide hands-on tool and workflow support for artists, technicians, and production on Windows, MacOS, and Linux based systems
Promote a positive, collaborative, and productive work environment across the studio
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Data Science, or Software Engineering required
10+ years of experience at a supervisory level, leading development teams for tools and workflows built on ShotGrid or Ftrack in an animation, gaming, or VFX studio environment
Familiarity with software development life cycle concepts, including build/release via CI/CD, version control with Git / GitLab / BitBucket
Expert knowledge of Production Technology/IT/IS methods, practices, and trends
Experience developing tools and scripts for VFX platforms such as Nuke, Houdini, Maya, Unreal Engine, and Blender
Experience with full stack web development and desktop application deployment
Knowledge with shader development, GLSL, and real-time rendering technologies
Proficiency with Agile development methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban
Ability to build and manage services on a Linux container platform
Experience with Python, C++, PySide/PyQt/Qt
Experience with generative AI, a plus
Excellent communication skills especially in documentation, tutorials, diagrams, and designs
Desire for creative innovation, excellence in visual media, and creating toolsets to empower artists and creators

In compliance with California law, we are disclosing the compensation range for this role, $110,000.00 - $175,000.00 per year.
