Overview and Responsibilities
The Producer, Original Content at VidCon supports the editorial direction for the company’s digital content efforts devoted to engaging the VidCon audience year-round across our digital platforms, social networks, podcasts and more. Tasked with developing and producing a slate of original content, overseeing all aspects of production, post production, writing, producing, and delivering episodes according to deadlines, you love to roll up your sleeves and create content as part of a small content team. In addition, our ideal candidate has significant experience in producing content across all digital platforms with a vast understanding of the digital content landscape, trends and talent and having produced in the field and in studio.
• Develop and produce a new slate of original content aimed at bringing the VidCon brand to life through digital content
• Oversee full production details from development through delivery for their respective shows, including hiring crews, producing shoots and overseeing post
• Work closely with Programming, Marketing and Talent teams to produce content that supports the needs of VidCon as a whole outside of its digital footprint
• Build a freelance community of crew and editors for production to tap into
• Develop a unique voice that resonates with our target audiences, but also one that dovetails with VidCon’s broader strategic goals
• Grow VidCon’s digital content audience across all channels against viewership and subscriber goals
• Produce content in the field at VidCon shows around the world for both the VidCon Now and VidCon channels
• All other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred, or equivalent combination of experience and education
• Minimum 3 years' of development and producing experience in the digital space
• Minimum 2 years' experience producing content across social platforms
• Capable of producing and developing multiple projects simultaneously, execute with skeleton crews and small budgets
• Experience developing multiple formats from inception/pitch through production and delivery
• A large pool of crew and editors to be able to use for production
• Demonstrated creativity, innovation and initiative
• Passion for Online video
• Deep knowledge of the inner workings of YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Twitch, Snap, Twitter and Web from an SEO and audience development perspective
• Excellent written communication with ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to balance creative thinking and strong attention to detail
• Travel up to 25%
