VIBE is looking to add a skilled editor to its new video team. Since the early ‘90s, VIBE has been an authoritative voice, celebrating and reporting on the Black experience and its multi-cultural impact on Music, TV/Film, Fashion, and Lifestyle. VIBE is about the message, the mood, and the movement that informs and inspires the masses.

We are seeking an experienced video editor who is fluent in visual storytelling for a digital audience. The ideal candidate will collaborate with our editorial and social teams, contribute ideas and technical expertise, and create video content that engages our audience across various platforms. From daily news and breakout stories to ongoing franchises and custom content, the Video Editor will be able to quickly edit, create custom graphics, and package content into dynamic short-form pieces. Essentially, they will be responsible for creating content in a fast-paced entertainment news-based and creative environment.

This full-time Video Editor must be based in the New York City area. The editor will report to the Editor in Chief and Executive Editor.

What You’ll Do:
• Capture and edit video content for the web - .com, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, etc.
• Work with the editorial and social media team leaders to conceive and produce video series
• Manage media storage and organization of all raw materials and finished projects Manage multiple edits and ensure delivery on time.
• Set the visual tone of VIBE’s video content for various digital platforms
• Execute cover shoot, event, or branded content video needs when appropriate

Requirements:
• At least 4 years of experience editing and shooting digital video content
• A background and passion for entertainment, news, music, or related consumer media
• Thorough understanding of video distribution and its ever-evolving video environment
• A proven track record of editing original high-production value content videos
• Fluency and proficiency with the Adobe Creative Cloud specifically Adobe Premiere and After Effects Color grading, After Effects, Sound Mixing preferred
• A strong understanding of best SEO practices on video publishing platforms

Typical wage range: $60k - $75k

Factors that could be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, years of experience and comparison to current employees already in this role. The typical candidate is hired below midpoint of the range. The total compensation package for this position will also include other elements, a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits including 401(k) eligibility and paid time off benefits.
