Overview and Responsibilities
The Senior Vice President of Programming Acquisitions will be a key contributor to the highly energized Global Program Acquisitions Group which works across multiple platforms within the ever-changing media landscape! This is a new role with the opportunity to be a part of our world class management team which licenses a record amount of product for these well-recognized suites of Brands and Services. The Global Program Acquisitions Group is a marketplace leader that crafts creative, forward-thinking agreements to secure current and future A-list content for a world-wide media entity.
We are seeking a well-regarded, highly experienced, dynamic acquisitions' executive to spearhead product negotiations under the executive leadership of the group head, partner with the management team to strategize, prepare and close innovative and complex deal scenarios that set precedent in the marketplace. This passionate and dynamic executive must be highly motivated with a strong track record for brokering key content deals. Solid understanding of ongoing rights is imperative as well as deep industry contacts and strong existing relationships with dealmakers on all sides of the business.
You must be a hardworking project leader with effective communication through intense negotiations, strategy and prep work. As well as have proven ability to establish and maintain relationships across a spectrum of collaborators including external industry leaders and internal C-suite executives is essential.
Key Responsibilities
• Negotiate content acquisition deals for linear and streaming services (i.e- SVOD, AVOD, etc) securing optimal rights that serve the best interest of the company now and beyond.
• Regularly meet and connect with studios and distributors to secure product avails, competitive details and market intel which inform negotiations and deal preparation for multi-year product
• Develop new relationships and maintain existing ones with key licensing partners and program execs.
• Utilize trends and data to provide out the box and advantageous product opportunities, as well as pricing scenarios to management
• Collaborate with team on internal asset management and priorities using firm knowledge of product avails and intel in the market on price and deal elements.
• Advise and collaborate with executive team to regularly assess & update company’s linear, streaming and digital rights parameters which impact ongoing negotiations.
• Review and evolve current methods in partnership with other internal areas. Coordinate improvements in the acquisitions process both internally and externally.
• Continually assess acquired content needs in partnership with team and brand execs taking into consideration the dynamic and evolving media landscape.
• Actively investigate and maintain updated industry pricing and term deal as well as content product avails
Basic Qualifications
• 15 years active experience in Content Acquisitions and/or Content Licensing working with key product and industry leaders. The ideal candidate will have a wide-ranging and tangible management toolkit under their belt.
• Familiarity and knowledge of the highly competitive multi-platform entertainment environment with demonstrated history and success in deal making for linear/streaming platforms and/or studio/content makers.
• Impeccable communication and presentation skills with ability to influence partners and secure outcomes
Additional Qualifications
• Accomplished professional with the industry stature to effectively represent a major media organization internally and externally. He/she will be able to move the company’s priorities and initiatives forward via innovative approach and strategies.
• Seasoned negotiator with shown experience producing winning results. Our ideal candidate possesses tactical experience and strategic confidence that can be imparted to other areas
• Extensive experience running a department successfully with solid management skills. Must have the ability to build, develop teams and innovate processes.
