Job Title: MUSIC CO-ORDINATOR
Department: Music Services, BALA
Location: Camden Town
Reporting To: Deputy Head Of Music and Head Of Music
Purpose Of The Role:
To work as a member of the Music Services Team ensuring that monthly copyright society deadlines are met. Chasing production companies to obtain cue sheets for programmes that have been broadcast on Channel 5’s family of channels. Inputting and reporting music details for delivery to the copyright societies. Sourcing and clearing music for Promo Producers, Milkshake Production/5Production in house made programmes under the various C5 blanket agreements. Advising Independent and Elephant House producers on copyright issues and music costs.
Key Accountabilities:
• Checking, approving or rejecting music cue sheets as they are delivered by production companies to our reporting systems - Q and PCIS
• Training Production staff on how to use The Channel 5 Music Reporting System.
• Chasing production companies for cue sheets
• Inputting music cue sheets into our Music Returns System and checking for accuracy of cue sheets
• Checking music is clearable under the blanket agreements for Promo producers, The Milkshake Production team, and meeting individual productions’ deadlines.
• Responding quickly to enquiries from production companies and Elephant House Studio Producers on music costs, copyright issues and giving guidance on clearing music for programmes.
• Continually adhering to and meeting Copyright Societies’ monthly deadlines (PRS/PPL/VPL).
Experience & Knowledge:
• Demonstrate a broad knowledge of music copyright and how the music industry works particularly with reference to copyright societies, publishing and record companies from the TV perspective.
• Knowledge and understanding of Five’s blanket agreements desirable
• Good all round knowledge and interest in music
• Knowledge of PRSformusic’s database, PPL and VPL databases
• Demonstrate good knowledge of Channel 5 content
• A thorough understanding of PCIS and Q and how this works
Competence Requirements:
• Excellent attention to detail and good organisational skills required
• Broad knowledge of music
• Ability to get on with all types of people and work effectively as part of a team.
• Proven IT skills including experience of using PCIS, Q AND WON, Copyright Society databases, Excel and Word
• Meeting tight production and reporting deadlines
