Manager, Social Impact - Entertainment & Youth Brands
Overview and Responsibilities
The ViacomCBS Entertainment & Youth Brands Social Impact team is charged with using our networks’ superpowers for good! The team develops and leads multi-platform social change initiatives that empower the channels’ audiences to affect the biggest challenges facing the nation, including on matters of civic engagement, mental health and racial justice, among other issues.
Do you have what it takes to join our team. We are seeking a Social Impact Manager, who will focus on our civic engagement and advocacy campaigns. This includes our 2020 election work (including 1 the Vote, Vote Early Day, Power the Polls, etc.), mental health advocacy and beyond. The Social Impact team works closely with all departments including marketing, social, digital, development and news to develop coordinated campaigns for change.
We’re a small team, and our Social Impact Manager has the chance to define an outsized impact!
Responsibilities
• Support in the development of proactive social impact and advocacy campaigns and activations for MTV, Comedy Central, VH1, CMT, Paramount Network, Logo, Pop TV, and TV Land.
• Take the lead on research and strategy development projects that will inform future civic engagement or advocacy campaigns or initiatives, including the creation of memos and decks.
• Develop and generate creative campaign and activation ideas aligned to our strategy and key issues – this might include and is not limited to creative rapid response ideas, identifying ways to demonstrate tentpole events to make an impact, and/or developing creative campaign ideas.
• Work closely with internal partners (such as social, digital, creative, and marketing) as well as external partners to realize our projects
• Help the team prepare for meetings through research and briefs as well as take notes and synthesize meeting outcomes.
• Develop campaign copy/messaging and sample social media posts.
• Schedule meetings with external partners or internal stakeholders.
• Monitor and track our campaigns, including crafting post-campaign and post-activation recap reports that help us evaluate our impact.
• Extend the reach of brands in important communities by developing and handling relationships with social talent, non-profits, advocacy groups, and other key partners.
• Collaborate with our colleagues across the social impact team and support on workstreams where needed, including on show integrations, mental health campaigns, rapid response, etc.
• Support the Social Impact Senior Director, VP, and SVP in misc. tasks that will help our team further our impact in the world and keep our colleagues updated on our projects.
Basic Qualifications
• At least three to seven years of professional experience, with a preference for those who have worked in the civic engagement and/or advocacy fields. Experience working in social impact at a creative agency, forward-thinking nonprofit, or media/technology company is a big plus.
Additional Qualifications
• Deep passion for social justice and driving social change, with the ability to think like a smart and strategic marketer.
• Ability to rapidly shift between multiple projects and priorities – keeping a clear focus on what really matters.
• Outstanding written and oral communication skills with strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
• Digital, social media, and editorial savvy and plugged into pop culture, digital youth culture, and prosocial trends. Passion for film and TV.
