Role:
CBS is seeking an expert editor/writer to run an efficient distribution operation for a wide range of communications, as well as help write the news we deliver. This position reports to the Senior Director of Editorial Services.
The ideal candidate will be a fast, accurate and organized writer with a desire to sharpen those qualities. Responsibilities include writing for the CBS newsletter, handling editorial calendars, editing press releases, and maintaining our press site materials. Preferred candidates will have experience working in a newsroom environment (journalistic or corporate) and performing detailed tasks under tight deadlines.
Responsibilities:
• Handle distribution schedule across the following divisions: CBS ''corporate,'' CBS Entertainment, CBS News, CBS Sports, CBS Studios, CBS Television Stations, CBS Media Ventures (first-run syndication) and Paramount .
• Be the first-pass editor on all press releases that come through CBS Communications.
• Master the CBS Stylebook and assist the director in maintaining consistency across all divisions' releases.
• Post final, edited press releases to Press Express, and distribute to targeted lists.
• Write for and help build biweekly issues of CBS Update, the newsletter for all CBS divisions of ViacomCBS.
• Handle CBS' internal and external distribution lists.
• Maintain a BusinessWire account, in addition to CBS' custom lists.
• Track CBS Entertainment episode releases, and format/edit storylines to prepare for review/top-editing.
• Be responsible for the press site's schedule that reflects the current Primetime network schedule.
• Maintain press site for all relevant divisions.
• Format and edit all bios and other press site materials for CBS Entertainment, CBS News, CBS Studios, and other divisions as needed.
• Maintain boilerplate descriptions of CBS divisions.
• Build and maintain show pages for all on-air and streaming content.
• Track and push listings, parental guidelines and TV listings.
• Serve as back-up editor when department editor is out of the office.
Qualifications:
• 4 years at a network or media organization or similar experience in a newsroom.
• Proficiency in AP Stylebook, Salesforce/Marketing Cloud or Mailchimp.
• Proficiency in both Microsoft and Google suite of products is required.
Additional Qualifications:
• Excellent writing/editing skills
• Meticulous in every part of the job, even/especially the smaller tasks.
• Strong communication and organization skills.
• Should have the ability to multitask, prioritize and adapt.
