The Short Form Production Group (SFPG) is a nimble team focused on the physical production management and close support to Brand Creative groups across Viacom Media Networks: Nickelodeon, Nick Jr., MTV, VH1, CMT, Logo, Comedy Central, Paramount Network and TVLand. Types of content created: Promos, Image Campaigns, Still Photography (key art, gallery, press), Integrated Marketing, Show Opens, Corporate, Integrated Marketing, Consumer Products and/or any marketing project or initiative requiring production management expertise.
Reporting to the SVP, Head of Short Form Production, the Line Producer will be a physical production expert with the proven ability to produce and manage complex large and small in-house and/or 3rd party productions. This is a demanding, fast-paced environment requiring one to be a self-starter, motivated, quick thinking, flexible, thorough and proactive. The Line Producer will be a continuous promoter and supporter of a diverse workplace, transparency and calculated risk taking.
• Creates, implements and drives highly effective production plans for physical production, motion and still, while collaborating and working with creative producers, project managers, directors, and executives
• Generate individual production budget estimates and manage working budget and wrap
• Archiving materials, information per SFP procedures on shared drive
• Provides input, feedback in all phases of production to ensure that the creative vision can be delivered and produced successfully while meeting operational, financial targets and desired production value
• Hires, negotiates and clearly defines rates and working conditions to freelance personnel: Directors, AD’s, Production Designers, Art Directors, DPs, Still Photographers, Costume Designers, Make-Up, Grips, Electrics, crew, talent, etc.
• Source and/or vet 3rd party production companies, directors and still photographers
• Expert negotiator with obtaining favorable deals and discounts with vendors
• Oversee any direct reports and provide mentorship, training and feedback
• Work with internal cross functional partners: Business and Legal Affairs (BALA), Risk Management, Finance, Safety, Labor Relations (inclusive of all union entities – DGA, AFTRA, IA, and Teamsters), Production Technologies, Human Resources, MML, Music and Talent and Employment Law
• Limit liability exposure to Viacom and on-set safety
• Deep technical knowledge of electronic film making process
• Communicates effectively to disseminate information to internal and external stakeholders
• Is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of production staff, internal and freelance
• Ensure that agreements, contracts and releases are created and fully executed
• Oversees production finance: PC, P-Card and mangers checks per project
• Oversees payroll of freelancers and ensures labor law is followed
• Maintains, seeks and supports a diverse workforce and vendor pool
• Fulfill other duties and tasks as requested by supervisor
Basic Qualifications
• Minimum 6 yrs. physical production management experience
• Bachelor's Degree preferred or, equivalent work experience
• Must possess ability to anticipate production and non-production challenges and bring awareness to stakeholders as necessary
• Must keep an eye on the bottom line and seek efficiencies, implement cost savings measures, vet 3rd party budgets, including breakage
• Ability to juggle multiple responsibilities and projects with a laser focus on organization and attention to detail while being flexible and capable of prioritizing shifting priorities and deadlines
• Ability to manage and mentor a team both project-based employees and staff
• Proficiency in MS Office, and become proficient with OneDrive, Showbiz Budgeting, Ariba, Concur, Market
• Must be able to travel, mainly domestically, some international possible
