Full Time Job
This position will oversee two critical areas of productivity for the Music Services team. The first will be to act as the sole contract manager for all work-for-hire deals related to the acquisition of new music for the music library, and the second, will be to assume the day to day product management for music platform. These duties will include:
• Drafting, negotiating and finalizing composer work-for-hire agreements on behalf of the music library and assisting, as needed, project based composer deals
• This will also include tracking rates for composers and working running analytics on ROI for library music contracted
• Coordinate with various West Coast and East Coast departments (e.g., talent, programming, on-air promos, press, and production management) and show music supervisors and third party production executives to implement policies and procedures around music and composers
• Oversee the tracking of composer deals and joint venture library deals to include new libraries and new terms as they arise
• Analyze our music use trends related to the Viacom Music Platform on an ongoing basis and make strategic recommendations
• Assume the role of chief liaison with our music platform host, Source Audio including the troubleshooting of any day to day issues involving site functionality
• Collect, analyze and present all user feedback related to the Viacom Music Platform, this may include a regular survey of users
• Oversee the set-up and security issues for all new users joining the platform
Basic Qualifications
• BA in Television, Film, Communications, Publishing, Business or similar preferred
• 1 to 3 years relevant experience, preferably in the entertainment industry, or at a law firm or in-house legal department. Strong internship experience accepted.
• Computer skills extremely valuable (including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, knowledge/experience setting up databases, tables, knowledge of redlining software)
Additional Qualifications
• Legal writing, contract analysis, and negotiation
• Excellent writing and negotiating skills (including ability to interpret and analyze comments from opposing representation)
• Ability to work well under pressure
• Ability to handle high volume of work, as well as recognize priorities and manage time effectively to meet deadlines; ability to function on an independent basis, with moderate supervision
• Working knowledge of television business (including guild and union) and general entertainment industry helpful
