Manager, Ad Revenue Finance (DOMESTIC) - Viacom
The Finance Manager is a member of the Finance team that is embedded within the Ad Sales division. In this matrixed environment, in this role you will provide analytical support to the Ad Sales division, with quarterly and annual forecasts, variance analysis and presentation assistance. In addition, you will provide projections and business context to the finance organization as a key input into the overall Domestic P&L. This role reports to the Ad Revenue Finance Sr. Director.
Key relationships of this position include teams within Ad Sales, including Pricing & Inventory, Business Intelligence and Strategy. On the Finance side, stakeholders include Corporate Finance, Domestic FP&A, Investor Relations and the Controller’s Group.
RESPONSIBILITIES
UNDERSTAND THE BUSINESS OF AD REVENUE
• Components of linear ad revenue, including capacity and pricing
• Components of Advanced Marketing Solutions (AMS), their various business models and their corresponding expenses
• Recent acquisitions and their impact on the business
• Market-driven and Viacom-specific factors that impact ad revenue, including distribution trends and advertising technologies
SUPPORT PERIODIC FULL-YEAR FORECASTS AND ANNUAL BUDGET OPERATING PLAN
• Submit updates to the current year forecast into the financial system
• Support the preparation of the financial review package to discuss preliminary forecasts/annual budget with Senior Exec Team
• Support the preparation of reporting packages including financials and Causes of Change vs. Prior Forecast, Budget, and Prior Year
SUPPORT REPORTING WEEKLY UPDATES TO THE CURRENT QUARTER
• Submit updates to the current quarter into the financial system
QUARTER CLOSE AND REPORTING
• Support Sr. Director to partner with the Controller’s Group and FP&A to ensure revenue is accurately recorded and reported in the appropriate lines of business
• Prepare and submit journal entries to reclass actuals in the general ledger
• Support the preparation of quarterly close package to the FP&A team, including financials and Causes of Change vs. Prior Forecast, Budget, and Prior Year
• Collaborate with Controller’s Group for Earnings Support Book process
• Collaborate with Ad Sales BI team to create DAS Earnings Deck
PREPARE FOR CROSS-FUNCTIONAL MEETINGS
• Support preparation for monthly linear ad revenue meetings and bi-weekly AMS meetings
• The purpose of these meetings is to offer visibility into the ad revenue forecasting process for groups that provide input (Research, Brands) and that use the output (P&I, Finance)
• Meeting activities include setting of ad revenue specific forecast deadlines, review of inputs (ratings, UEs), and discussion of business drivers
• Long-range plan (LRP)
• Support Sr. Director in creation of annual LRP exercise
Support all ad-hoc requests from key partners, including but not limited to:
• Ad Sales Organization (Head of Ad Sales, COO, SVP, etc)
• Finance Organization (FP&A, Corporate, Brand leads, etc.)
• Investor Relations
• Corporate Strategy
• Controller’s Group
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economic or Business
• Minimum 5 years of relevant financial experience preferably in media or banking, consulting, or financial services with a focus on the media industry
• General knowledge of accounting principles
• Experience supporting a Revenue or Ad Sales group preferred
Additional Qualifications
• Experience with SAP, Longview or similar system
• High degree of proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint
• Strategic and highly analytic
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize and deal with ambiguity
• Strong interpersonal skills, ability to navigate within a matrixed environment
• Self-motivated, inquisitive, can-do mindset
• Continuous improvement mindset – ability to seek out and implement internal or external standard methodologies
• Flexibility with work schedule
