Consumer Products Intern
Nickelodeon is the UK’s #1 kids commercial channel! Launched in 1993, it comprises seven dedicated award-winning entertainment channels for kids aged 2-12: Nickelodeon, NickToons, NickToons Replay, Nick Jr, Nick Jr 2, Nick Replay and Nickelodeon HD, the first HD kids channel in the Sky Kids Pack.
The Nickelodeon network now reaches more than 10 million viewers a month and is available in 12.7 million cable and satellite homes.
The company has built a diverse multi-platform business by putting kids first in everything it does and includes critically acclaimed and hugely popular television programming and production in the United Kingdom and around the world, plus consumer products, online, events, recreation and feature films. Nickelodeon UK is a joint venture between MTV Networks and BSkyB.
Nickelodeon network shows include: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, SpongeBob SquarePants, Paw Patrol, Shimmer & Shine, Blaze and the Monster Machines, as well as newly launched shows Rusty Rivets and Nella the Princess Knight and old time favourites Rugrats and Hey Arnold.
The Department
Consumer Products facilitates the development of merchandise for our Nickelodeon and MTV brands through UK retail outlets. Consumer Products license all types of products with the key areas being: Toys and Games, Books, Clothing and Accessories, Food and Promotions, Video/DVD and Video Games.
They do not manufacture product ranges internally but work with third party companies, “licensees”, who sell branded product at retail and pay a defined royalty on each item sold. Another key aspect of the Consumer Products business is liaising with all UK retailers from Tesco and Toys R Us to ASOS and Primark to ensure they support Nickelodeon brands by stocking licensees’ product ranges.
Job Description & Overall Responsibilities
Based at our offices in Hawley Crescent and duel reporting into the Senior Manager, Softlines and Licensing Manager, FMCG & Promotions, this role’s primary responsibilities include:
Creative approval process management
• Manage the creative approval process for key partners, liaising with internal stakeholders to gain necessary approvals on DTR, retail and consumer marketing materials
• Manage the creative approval process for 3rd party represented brands – liaising with both licensees and brand owner to bring best in class priduct to market
Sales information management
• Manage the distribution of up to date sales information to key partners/potential partners
Product Management
• Collate, form and manage the licensee product image & sample database
Distribution and mailing lists
• Update & manage these on an ongoing basis
Competitor analysis
• Provide comprehensive key competitior analysis on a regular basis for key categories and potential new categories for exploitation through store checks and online research
Ad hoc department administrative support
• Supporting the team on key partner presentation events and award submissions as well as adhoc retail marketing projects
Manage internal and external stakeholder comms
• Internal weekly highlights
• Monthly external licensee newsletter
Manage the sourcing of prizes and samples from licensees
Manage the costume character appearance schedule in conjunction with the marketing team
Experience/Key Skills:
The ideal candidate for this role will have/be:
• Knowledge and/or interest in sales & marketing and how this fits into the Consumer Products arena
• Thorough in their work with excellent attention to detail
• Strong skills in MS Office applications, particularly in PowerPoint and Outlook but also having a knowledge of Word and Excel
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
• Confident personality with the ability to fit into a sociable, fun and high performing team
• Overall enthusiasm for the world of kids TV, awareness of our main Consumer Products brands and a desire to learn within a highly commercial department
