WHAT ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
We are a media movement that believes in young people. The MTV Staying Alive Foundation is an international content-producing organization dedicated to empowering young people with vital health and wellness information.
The Foundation creates and distributes challenging and entertaining health content across MTV channels and with third-party broadcasters. MTV Shuga is our key driver in this. Centered around an award-winning TV drama, it’s a multi-platform campaign that’s been proven to effect positive behavior change in sexual health and HIV.
WHAT IS THE ROLE
Based in London, the Events Coordinator is responsible for developing and delivering the MTV Staying Alive Foundation’s fundraising events.
The primary objectives of this role will be to maximise income from the existing special event and challenge event portfolio, delivering an exceptional supporter experience as well as identifying new event opportunities. A large focus of this role will also be to manage and develop the relationship between the foundation and our parent company ViacomCBS, and to also help deliver internal staff fundraising events.
This role will work closely with the Senior Fundraising and Marketing Manager (SFMM) to implement and deliver a fundraising strategy, with clearly set priorities and targets, and to plan and monitor progress
• Professionally manage and develop key events within the charity’s special and challenge events portfolio, maximising income and support for MTV’s Staying Alive Foundation.
• Identify opportunities for income growth from high value events, generating ideas and concepts for raising our profile, engaging with and maximising income from the sector.
• Identify ways to add non-financial value to events where appropriate e.g. PR activity.
• To work closely with ViacomCBS staff to develop and deliver internal fundraising events.
• Work closely with the SFMM to enable close collaboration between events and management of high-net-worth individual (HNWI) supporters.
• To represent the MTV Staying Alive Foundation externally in the UK, attending meetings and events as required.
• To work closely with our content creation teams - developing relevant fundraising materials and resources in support of our events portfolio
• Support digital fundraising – assist in coordination of copywriting, messaging and marketing for the Foundation, especially for event promotion and comms.
• Support traditional and digital correspondence – supplying events content for our newsletter, and occasionally supporting our social media fundraising presence.
• Support the SFMM in day-to-day fundraising and marketing operations, managing administration and relevant fundraising finance.
• Manage fundraising and operational databases including Salesforce, Just Giving and Virgin Money Giving.
WHAT SKILLS DO YOU NEED
• An experienced fundraiser with a proven track record of successful fundraising from events, with ability to deliver projects on budgets and exceeding associated KPIs.
• Demonstrable project management and operational experience.
• Responsible for ensuring clear processes are in place for all aspects of event management and delivery, including registering attendees, capturing donations and thanking post-event.
• Significant knowledge of the fundraising sector and a proven track record in at least one additional, relevant discipline is a bonus (e.g. Corporate, Digital Fundraising, Philanthropy)
• A skilled, engaging communicator - both on paper and in person. Must be able to successfully interact with people at all levels, both externally and internally within the larger framework of MTV/ViacomCBS.
• Experience of planning and executing events for major donors
• Highly motivated, being comfortable with accountability and ability to work autonomously.
• Ability to thrive in fast-paced, intensive environment – managing workload with composure and flexibility.
• Always acting with integrity, with the ability to understand and be fully committed to the aims and objectives of the MTV Staying Alive Foundation.
• Sound understanding of the Fundraising Standards Board and Institute of Fundraising’s Codes of Conduct.
• Must be ‘hands-on’ – as a small charity we require staff to be flexible and do a wide range of things on a day-to-day basis.
• Sound understanding and interest in global health and international development preferred.
