JOB TITLE: Communications Executive, VIMN UK
JOB SUMMARY
The Communications Executive will report to the Communications Director, UKNEE and International – with a dotted reporting line to Senior Communications Director, UKNEE – and support delivery of internal and corporate communications strategy for Viacom in the UK, as well as bespoke activity for key brands including Channel 5, Comedy Central, MTV and Nickelodeon
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Support corporate communications activity & strategy, as required, including:
• Support delivery of corporate communications strategy for Viacom in the UK, as well as its flagship pay brands Comedy Central, MTV and Nickelodeon.
• Support drafting of corporate communication materials including press releases, briefings, Q&As and campaign strategies
• Support development and pitching of news stories, features & comment ideas to promote Viacom’s UK business activities.
• Support preparation of Viacom executives for speaking opportunities and interviews
• Support media relations, including key contacts with relevant trade and B2B media.
• Support communications for Viacom’s external live events
• Support management of reputational issues arising from Viacom’s content and events in the UK.
• Support internal communications activity & strategy, as required, including:
• Lead the day-to-day management of employee communication channels including intranet, The Lock
• Support and, where appropriate, lead written employee communications and preparation of Viacom executives for employee communication activities
• Support and, where appropriate, lead liaison with Human Resources and Office of Global Inclusion on employee communications, including creating assets for Viacom Talent accounts across social media.
• Support and, where appropriate, lead the conception and execution of employee engagement events, including local activations of international Viacom employee engagement initiatives – lead liaison with Viacom UK events team to support delivery of these events.
• Support and, where appropriate, lead preparation and execution of regular management communications including weekly video updates
• Lead liaison with Viacom Brand PR teams to support employee communications for Channel 5, Comedy Central, MTV and Nickelodeon
• Lead liaison with external suppliers of employee communications tools and services e.g. SeenIt
ROLE-SPECIFIC SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES
• Communications experience in a related field
• Strong written and interpersonal communications skills
Preferred skills and qualities
• A track record of supporting creative innovation in internal communications activity.
• A track record of providing communications support at high-profile live events.
• An understanding of and affinity with Viacom’s brands.
• Knowledge of media/entertainment and broadcast industry issues.
• Knowledge of social media and emerging digital media ecology.
• Digital production skills including Photoshop, video editing, PowerPoint.
• Good contacts with relevant media.
• Can-do attitude, enthusiasm, flexibility.
