REPORTING STRUCTURE
Reporting directly to UK Country Controller
JOB SUMMARY
The UK Assistant Controller is a critical member of the finance function, providing support to the UK Country controller and the UK Controller team. Providing accounting support to ensure that financial statements are prepared accurately and on a timely basis.
The key focus of the role is balance sheet reporting to NY, preparing UK statutory accounts, performing VAT return checks and preparing US GAAP corporation tax submissions.
• Monthly and quarterly Balance sheet analysis and reviews to support the Financial Controller in maintaining a SOX compliant environment.
• Preparation and posting of journals for team members.
• Review of transactions and liaison with GBS (Global Business Services- shared service centre) for approvals.
• Reporting for month end packs and FD meetings in timely manner
• Supporting the Financial Controller and UK Cluster Senior Director in the drive for process improvements.
• Identify and flag any risk and control issues to the UK Country Controller
• Business partnering with Finance Planning & Analysis (FP&A) to resolve issues and improve controls
• Credit control - pursue detailed enquiry relating to aged balances, credit balances, payment plans, assessing bad debt provisions and follow up actions between GBS teams and FP&A.
• Intercompany balance investigation using intercompany matrix
• Year end accounts preparation under FRS102
• Assist with providing supporting documentation and liaise with the correct department for external and internal walk-throughs
• Prepare and review Payroll reconciliations
• PSA analysis and knowledge of tax treatment for travel and entertainment, gifts & vouchers
• Review of quarterly UK & Ireland VAT returns & Tax computation
• Data collation and preparation of data for the purpose of filing ONS forms:
• Monthly business survey
• Quarterly/annual acquisitions and disposals of capital assets survey
• e-commerce

• Quarterly/annual international trade in services

• To undertake ad hoc projects and duties as directed by UK Country Controller
• Prepare technical accounting papers for review by the UK Cluster Senior Director

Job Experience and Qualification:
• Qualified chartered Accountant – at least 2 years post qualified experience
• Viacom Knowledge, experience and understanding of international media, television and music business
• Compulsory IT knowledge: One Source, Business Objects analysis, LWPlan SAP knowledge, Market, Blueprint, Alteryx, MS Office suites, Skype
• Proven experience of dealing with foreign shared services departments
• SOX knowledge and experience is a must.
• US GAAP to UK GAAP understanding and mechanism
• Multisite/company environment experience
• Multicurrency experience
• Exposure to AP, AR and FP&A and ability to deal with issues
• Strong IFRS, FRS102, US Gaap, VAT and UK Corporation tax knowledge
