Variety Business Intelligence (VBI): Manager of Sales
Are you passionate about entertainment and want to learn about business development? Variety Business Intelligence is looking for a dynamic Manager of Sales. Previous sales experience isn't required, but the ideal applicant will have prior work experience at a talent & literary agency, network, studio or production company with exposure to development and/or production. Our onboarding program teaches the sales skills necessary to succeed and allows you to share our products' benefits with clients while utilizing your prior entertainment work experience. We are one of the fastest growing divisions at Variety Media and this position offers significant opportunities for advancement as well as a great company culture.

Responsibilities:
The VBI Manager of Sales is responsible for setting his or her own meetings, presenting and closing deals. All sales people are trained on Salesforce, the division's CRM system. The Manager of Sales will have the opportunity to generate leads by travelling to various industry trade shows and events where the company exhibits its research & data services. A strong interest and understanding of the entertainment business is a must. The position requires someone who is comfortable with in office and web-based product presentations, as well as setting meetings and generating leads. Also, the Manager of Sales will serve as an account representative for existing clients for the purposes of client service and account renewal. The Director will work closely with the President of the division and the rest of the sales team to help develop and execute sales and marketing strategy. The Manager of Sales at Variety Business Intelligence will be selling licenses to new and existing customers to access industry research and data tools. In addition, this position will sell advertising in Variety Insight's various newsletters to marketers across the entertainment industry. Compensation is a base salary plus commissions on new and renewal business.
Requirements:
• Excellent communication skills, whether in person, email or phone. Superior written and verbal skills are a necessity.
• Ability to create and maintain relationships at networks, studios, production companies and agencies with a focus on development and production.
• The ideal candidate must be able to manage his or her own tasks and deadlines and have excellent organizational skills with a high attention to detail.
• High comfort level working with clients in various areas of the entertainment industry and passion for film, TV and digital content.
• Strong technical aptitude and working knowledge of internet and SaaS applications, particularly MS Excel and Outlook. Knowledge of Salesforce and ClearSlide a plus.
• A long term interest in marketing and sales is encouraged but not required.
