This is a Part Time Paid Internship
Variance Films is looking for a part-time intern to come in two or three days a week for the spring semester. Applicants must be students enrolled at the undergraduate or graduate level. College credit available. This is a paid internship.
As an intern of Variance Films, you will be working within our marketing department to help with our publicity, partnerships, and outreach efforts. The primary task of one of our interns is to be part of our team that builds awareness for our films in markets where we will be opening; this is achieved through the identification of promotional partners and through an emphasis on grassroots outreach. Though the internship primarily focuses on our marketing initiative, we provide ample learning opportunities for those interested in learning about the acquisitions and sales process as well, and we encourage our interns to be inquisitive and to ask questions so that they learn as much as possible while on our team. An internship is a learning experience. You won't be asked to pick up anyone's dry cleaning.
Duties of the intern include:
• Identify partners for promotional opportunities
• Perform local outreach
• Support our Vice President and her marketing team in duties as assigned
• Support our President with miscellaneous tasks as assigned
• Coordinate delivery of marketing and PR items
Requirements:
An intern must...
• be a student enrolled at the undergraduate or graduate level
• have a computer that they can bring to/from the office
• be well-versed in current independent film trends
• love movies
Film or entertainment studies majors preferred, but as Variance Films partners directly with leading independent filmmakers to release their film, this is a fantastic opportunity for young filmmakers to get a first-hand view of what it takes to break out an independent film into the cultural mainstream.
