What You'll Do: As Director of Communications you will be a key team member responsible for communications efforts across Valence Media's music properties which span television, film, digital and traditional media and data. You will report directly to the VP of the department and act as a contributor across other activities on the team, which is also comprised of an entertainment and internal communications vertical.
Key Responsibilities:
• Create and implement publicity and awards campaigns with distribution partners across media, television, documentary and live slate.
• Work closely with VP of Music communications on show strategy and execution for dick clark production's music properties (''Billboard Music Awards,'' ''Academy of Country Music Awards,'' ''American Music Awards,'' ''Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest''), drafting press materials, pitching, booking media in advance, working hand-in-hand with internal and external production teams on press needs and for day-of show, red carpet, on-site execution.
• Lead day-to-day publicity efforts for Billboard Magazine, ensuring the amplification of Billboard covers, breaking news stories, videos, podcasts and thought leadership strategy to extend reach and impact. Collaborate with editorial and video teams on ongoing basis to drive additional publicity opportunities.
• Accountable for ''So You Think You Can Dance,'' managing all communications with network and outside agency.
• Work closely with team to drive publicity surrounding music data initiatives, research and insights from charts team and MRC Data.
• Staff televised live event shows, appearances with editors, red carpets, junkets, premieres or aid in any other departmental initiatives as necessary.
• Establish key positive relationships with artists, actors, producers, representatives (agents, managers, publicists), media, networks, and executives.
• Manage external PR agencies and leadup efforts, and oversee on-site staffing needs.
Requirements:
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Detail oriented with exceptional organizational and multitasking skills, including ability to prioritize and manage evolving deadlines
• Must be trustworthy, possess good judgement and ability to work with confidential information
• Strong independent problem-solving skills with ability to thrive in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment
• Motivated and passionate team player, able to assist wherever needed
• Intellectual curiosity, strong desire to learn, and a passion for media, entertainment, and technology
• Must be resourceful, proactive and have a positive 'can do' attitude
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally
Qualifications:
• At least 7 years prior experience in communications with an entertainment or media company or public relations agency
• Music industry or background experience preferred
• Bachelor's degree preferred
