Job Description
The Director of Business Development is a sales leader with oversight of new business development for Utah Jazz and Smith Entertainment Group Corporate Partnerships and Premium Seating assets. This position is responsible for implementing strategic new business initiatives that fulfill the department business plan and support organizational objectives. This leader will assist in the development of new business strategies in coordination with the department Vice President and be responsible for the implementation thereof with a team of sales executives. Through innovation and accountability, the Director will leadand mentor their department to drive new business sales including signage, promotions, digital advertising, print advertising, community programming, IP rights, hospitality suites, corporate boxes, and club seating for the Utah Jazz, Vivint Arena, Salt Lake Bees, Salt Lake City Stars & Jazz Gaming.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Exemplify and cultivate a culture of inclusion, diversity, transparency, and continuous personal and employee development
• Identify, develop, and execute strategic new business initiatives with a team of sales executives
• Direct within the stewardship of the department business plan while training, mentoring and holding staff accountable to their individual and team goals
• Energetically network, prospect and cultivate new business relationships within the Utah business community
• Research, identify, and track sponsorship prospects regionally, nationally, and internationally within targeted industries and segments
• Inspire and demonstrate relentless innovation and creativity while developing, refining, and selling new sponsorship assets and partnerships
• Demonstrate a high level of hands-on engagement throughout sales executive's efforts to prospect, pitch and close new business -- providing the necessary leadership, mentorship and strategic direction to hit individual quotas
• Conduct one-on-one meetings regularly with direct reports to establish and evaluate goals
• Coordinate with key internal departments such as Marketing, Finance, Premium Experience, Partnership Success and Membership to develop and drive strategic sales and service initiatives companywide
• Entertain clients and prospects at Utah Jazz games, Vivint Arena events and in other client entertainment settings as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent training and experience
• Minimum of five years of experience with a background in sponsorship and/or hospitality sales
• One to two years successfully leading a sales and/or service team preferred
• Preferred proficiency in brand marketing and integrated partnerships
• Ability to work a non-traditional schedule as sports and entertainment events may require, including extended days and hours, holidays, and weekends
• Proficient in customer relationship management systems, Microsoft Office applications and Google workspace
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• This person must be able to communicate and express themselves both written and verbally.
• This person must be able to observe, inspect, estimate and assess.
• This person must be able to sit, stand, bend, walk, and climb stairs for long periods of time.
• This person must be able to lift 20 lbs.
