Part Time Paid Internship

Position Reports To: Rick Riccobono, Chief Development Officer
Position Background: The Strategy and Research Intern will be instrumental in analyzing the current global landscape of amateur and youth baseball for USA Baseball's Sport Development Department. USA Baseball is the national governing body for the sport of baseball in the United States and is a member of the United States Olympic Committee and the World Baseball Softball Confederation. Alongside its partners at Major League Baseball and with its 18 National Member Organizations, USA Baseball is working towards the continued improvement of baseball within the amateur game. This position will communicate with MLB on the amateur game while supporting USA Baseball's National Member Organizations. Through strategic projects, this individual will provide a competitive assessment of the amateur and youth baseball marketplace uncovering trends and key success factors in the marketplace. This position will also be responsible for various operational duties as needed with the launch of new programs and events within the department.
Responsibilities
• Researches and analyzes existing global trends within baseball and other sports by evaluating quality of market and competitor data reporting
• Completes research/strategy projects ensuring applicability to the amateur and youth baseball marketplace
• Communicates with and support MLB on youth and health of the sport related initiatives
• Coordinates event support and promotion with USA Baseball's National Member Organizations
• Participates in program creation from conceptual to launch phase
• Performs a wide range of operational duties associated with new programs and events developed within the department
Basic Qualifications
• Candidates should possess strong organizational, logistical and leadership skills
• All candidates must demonstrate computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint
• Must have an excellent attitude and work well in a team setting
• Flexible and adaptable work schedule for changing organizational needs
• Willingness to travel to USA Baseball events, NMO events and governance meetings throughout the United States and international competitions around the world
• Passionate about baseball
Preferred Qualifications
• Baseball experience as a player, coach or administrator
• Ability to utilize existing and emerging networks within the game to achieve team goals
• Self-motivated
Required Education
• All candidates should be in possession of, or working towards a Bachelor's or Master's degree.
