Retail Management Intern (National Team Championships)
Retail Management Intern
Start Date: June 8, 2019
End Date: July 8, 2019
*Full time hours during the duration of the internship, including weekends.
*This is a paid position.
*USA Baseball has four of these positions available.
Position Reports To: Assistant Director, Retail (Tayler Gainer); and Senior Director, Retail (Carrington Austin)
Position Background:
The USA Baseball retail department manages and oversees the brand's official online shop, the USA Baseball Team Store located at the National Training Complex in Cary, N.C., and satellite stores at various USA Baseball events throughout the year.
Position Responsibilities:
• Assist USA Baseball Retail staff with store set-up prior to the start of the tournament and breakdown at the conclusion of the event at both Peoria Sports Complex and Surprise Stadium
• Maintain outstanding conditions and visual merchandising standards at West Championships Team Store
• Manage the USA Baseball West Championship Team Store throughout the event, including monitoring inventory
• Support the Assistant Director and Senior Director by completing any administrative duties, including social media updates, as necessary
• Drive sales by recommending, selecting, and locating merchandise based on customer needs
• Effectively manage the store's point-of-sale system (Shopify)
• Exceed the store's sales goals by engaging with customers and providing excellent service
• Ensure the highest level experience for each individual who engages with USA Baseball Shop
• Responsible for product replenishment at USA Baseball West Championships Team Store
• Manage in store customer returns and exchanges
• Manage the in-store barcode system. Ensure that all products are properly barcoded and in the Shopify POS system prior to going on display
• Maintain a clean store, including daily vacuuming, window cleaning, and organization of front desk counters, to ensure all public areas are professional in appearance
• Assist with performing physical inventories
Preferred Qualifications:
• Merchandise or retail experience preferred, though not required
• Desire to work in the exciting and fast paced field of professional sports
• Aspiration for personal and professional growth in the sports industry
• Strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multitask
• Highly organized with great attention to detail
• Lift/Carry up to 50 lbs.
• Flexible and willing to perform other tasks as assigned
Required Education:
• All candidates should be in current pursuit of or possessing a bachelor's degree.

USA Baseball is the National Governing Body for the sport of baseball in the United States and is a member of the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) and the World Baseball Softball Confederation. The organization selects and trains the Olympic, Pan Am, Premier 12 and World Baseball Classic teams (and all other USA Baseball Professional Teams); the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team; the USA Baseball 18U, 15U and 12U National Teams; and the USA Baseball Women's National Team, all of which participate in various international competitions each year.
