Assistant Director, Athlete Safety
All USA Baseball employees will operate under a remote work plan for the 2021 season. All employees will be expected to work remotely during business hours, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. ET, unless otherwise scheduled by your supervisor or during USA Baseball sanctioned events. If assigned to work an event, employees will work on-site at an assigned facility. USA Baseball will implement strict COVID-19 guidelines for all events in 2021 in order to protect the long-term health and safety for its employees and participants.
Position Reports To: Lauren Rhyne, Senior Director of Athlete Safety and Education
Position Background: The Assistant Director of Athlete Safety will help manage and enhance all elements of USA Baseball's SafeSport-related policies, guidelines, educational programs, reporting and adjudication services. In addition to helping lead USA Baseball's SafeSport efforts to promote a safe, healthy, and positive training environment for all participants, this individual will develop and direct compliance and enforcement in the greater amateur baseball community through the Pure Baseball Safety Initiative. This position will report to the Senior Director of Athlete Safety and Education.
Position Responsibilities:
• Manage the USA Baseball Background Check clearinghouse program.
• Grow the USA Baseball Pure Baseball safety initiative with non-affiliated amateur baseball organizations.
• Maintenance of USA Baseball's ineligible participants list.
• Lead the Pure Baseball compliance process for all USA Baseball events.
• Manage the collection and reporting of program metrics for Pure Baseball.
• Assist in the SafeSport compliance process through tracking and monitoring completion.
• Relationship management with service providers, including background screening, pre-employment screening, and legal counsel.
• Assist in the management of the organization's CRM technology, and its connectivity to the end users.
Qualifications:
• All candidates must demonstrate computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint.
• Ability to manage a diverse project load, maintain attention to detail, and regularly communicate and build strong, positive relationships with staff is essential.
• Must have an excellent attitude and work well in a team setting.
• Flexible and adaptable work schedule for changing organizational needs.
• Willingness to travel to USA Baseball events, national member organization events, and governance meetings throughout the United States and international competitions around the world.
• Mentor interns on working in sports and for a not-for-profit organization.
• Passionate about helping children.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Background in child sexual abuse and/or sexual assault prevention, public health, family services, paralegal, and/or governing body policy education.
Required Education:
• Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited four year college or university.

USA Baseball is the National Governing Body for the sport of baseball in the United States and is a member of the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) and the World Baseball Softball Confederation.
