Volunteer Coordinator
The Del Close Marathon, the largest improv festival in the world, is looking for a Volunteer Coordinator for DCM 20! This year's festival will run from June 29th - July 1st. Reliable, well-trained volunteers are essential to the success of DCM.
Responsibilities include :
Being the lead for all volunteer aspects including the recruitment, screening, interviewing and training of new volunteers.
Collaborating with the Festival Manager to determine volunteer opportunities
Collaborating with Venue Managers and Human Resources to provide clear written job descriptions and expectations for volunteers.
Publishing volunteer opportunities online and advocating for volunteers within the community.
Creating and maintaining a volunteer database.
Leading, conducting, preparing, and managing Volunteer Trainings
Creating a schedule for volunteers and placing them appropriately
Managing, developing, and updating volunteer policies, procedures, and all correlating documents
Being on site (or on call) during all festival hours from set up to tear down, overseeing and leading volunteers as well as answer any questions
Providing volunteer updates to festival management.
Ensuring that acknowledgements and thank you notes are written post event.
Ensuring a post-event wrap report is submitted to festival management detailing successes and lessons-learned.
Requirements :
Bachelor's degree, plus previous experience with festival organizing or relevant work experience in an administrative or coordinating position
Data management and reporting skills. Must be comfortable using scheduling software.
Strong organizational skills
Ability to successfully lead teams or work groups through the planning and implementation of events and special activities, as well as to present information effectively in one-on-one, small group and large group settings
Familiarity with Google sheets and docs
Availability to attend weekly planning meetings
Calm in a storm. Able to embrace chaos.
Ability to be nimble, and to offer solutions when problems arise
Work time frame: March through June.
