Position: Assistant Director, Entertainment and Sports Marketing
Location: Remote/Nationwide
FLSA Status: Exempt
Position Description
The Assistant Director, Entertainment and Sports Marketing will play a vital role at UNICEF USA by cultivating and managing talent relationships, securing national media, supporting high-profile events and campaigns and supporting the organizations full-funnel strategy. Reporting directly to the Managing Director of Entertainment and Sports Marketing, this individual will manage their own portfolio of talent and media relationships, balancing day-to-day execution with creative, forward-looking ideas that connect UNICEF USA to culture and influence.
Relationship Management (40%)
• Manage and deepen relationships with an existing roster of UNICEF USA Ambassadors, Supporters, and their teams. Including, but not limited to, updating high profile individuals on UUSA calendar and campaigns, proactively thinking about engagement opportunities that fit into their personal and professional calendar and facilitating media requests.
• Lead the identification, recruitment and stewardship of new entertainment and sports figures to UNICEF USA's roster.
• Create bespoke communication plans and engagement strategies that reflect the ever-evolving media and influencer landscape.
• Partner with teams including, but not limited to, Philanthropy and Brand Experience to ensure that talent activations are creating maximum impact for UNICEF USA.
• Serve as a trusted liaison for talent representatives (agents, managers, publicists), ensuring seamless communication, collaboration and execution.
• Provide on-the-ground support at events, media opportunities and program visits involving talent.
• Ensure that all talent-facing engagements are professional and brand-aligned.
• Maintain strong relationships across entertainment and sports industries, including agencies, studios, labels, and teams.
Strategic Engagement (20%)
• Collaborate across the organization to ensure talent activations align with the organization's full-funnel strategy.
• Serve as a strategic contributor to the organization's sports strategy, including, but not limited to players and corporate partnerships
• Serve as a trusted partner to the Managing Director, providing industry insights and strategic recommendations for the program.
• Monitor emerging talent and cultural trends and bring forward fresh, creative opportunities to connect UNICEF with new audiences.
Communication and Public Relations (20%)
• Own the full press pitching cycle, from identifying press-worthy opportunities to drafting, pitching, and securing coverage in national lifestyle and entertainment outlets.
• Lead entertainment and lifestyle publicity efforts for UNICEF USA's national fundraising events, emergency response moments and marquee campaigns.
• Lead the development of press releases, talking points, statements, briefing documents and more.
Sports Marketing (20%)
• Support the development and execution of UNICEF USA's emerging Sports Marketing strategy, from a brand perspective.
• Increase UNICEF USA's relevancy and influence across the industry of sports, including athletes, leagues and teams.
• Contribute to on-going and new sports partnerships through talent engagement, publicity efforts and supporting UNICEF USA's full-funnel strategy.
All other duties and responsibilities, as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree with 7+ years of experience in entertainment PR, talent management, sports/entertainment marketing, or influencer partnerships.
• Advanced knowledge of public relations strategy, including developing and distributing messaging various channels for press, spokesperson preparation, crisis communications, and tailoring messages to engage various stakeholders.
• Experience with brand positioning and integrated communications campaigns that advance mission and goals. This includes message development, media outreach, audience targeting, and partnership promotion.
• Proven ability to secure national lifestyle and entertainment press coverage.
• Experience managing relationships with high-profile individuals and their teams.
• Strong and current network of existing media and industry relationships.
• Proven ability to effectively prioritize tasks and deadlines in a high-stakes, dynamic work environment while remaining calm in rapidly evolving situations.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a sharp eye for detail.
• Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively, with confidence to own a portfolio and represent UNICEF externally.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends, and travel as needed.
Must possess current and valid US Work Authorization and be eligible to work for any US employer without sponsorship.
