Job Description:
Perform a variety of tasks related to live, pre-recorded, studio and field production, all in support of a 24x7 TV broadcast channel. Primary duties include, but are not limited to, responsibility for all facets of audio production projects and daily operation of audio mixing, switching and special effects equipment.
Essential Functions:
Operate all audio mixing, switching, equalizing and special effects equipment for TV production primarily in a live studio environment
• Operate routing equipment which may require patching of video, audio and ancillary signals
• Setup and operate different types of adjunct audio and telephone equipment, including analog/digital cartridge machines, audio servers, speech enhancers and intercoms
• Provide proper technical interface between in-plant devices and outside audio and communication sources
• Perform other tasks, as assigned, including, but not limited to, Broadcast technician, VTR operator, Content Server System operator, Technical Director, Transmission/Satellite Control (TOC) operator and Master Control operator
• Perform same/similar duties on remote broadcasts, as assigned
• Adhere to Company procedures and policies, and management and supervisory directives
Qualifications/Requirements:
• Ten years overall broadcast operations experience at a local TV station, cable/satellite channel or other industry-related activities
• Five years experience working as an audio mixing technician in a live television studio or remote environment including mixing and switching all forms of live TV events, utilizing accepted operational techniques to achieve a high quality broadcast
• Hands-on and/or working knowledge of systems/equipment used in functions identified above, including analog/digital audio signals and monitoring equipment
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to travel to remote broadcast sites, as assigned
• Ability to work well in a broadcast team environment, including talent, producers and directors, under strict time deadlines
• Willingness and ability to work varied schedules and to work overtime and/or weekends and holidays
Experience/Training/Education/Certification:
Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED; prefer AA degree in related field
Minimum two years experience working in a live television studio or remote environment, utilizing accepted operational techniques to achieve a high quality broadcast
