: Senior Manager, Product Analytics (Core News)
We are seeking a Senior Manager, Product Analytics to join our Data Intelligence (DI) team. This individual will be fully 'embedded' into our Core News team, playing a critical integrator role between both teams. He/she will empower the Core News team members with the tools and insights they need to ensure cnn.com and CNN mobile apps are engaging its users around the globe. Core areas of focus and desired outcomes include:
1.Establish a Measurement Framework. Lead the definition, implementation, and adoption of the Core News product metrics and self-serve analytics reporting tools.
2.Perform Predictive Analysis. Perform user data exploration and modeling to establish causal links between product behaviors and long-term user engagement and retention.
3.Execute Insights Experiments. Design and interpret statistically significant experiments that validate user behavior metrics and or related new product features.
This is a collaborative role, where you'll work to accomplish our objectives with cross-functional teams and peers including product managers, revenue, content and design strategists, engineering, consumer science and research. You'll lead through influence to challenge assumptions in favor of building and maturing a data-driven, insightful culture that has the insights it needs to make informed decisions fast and deliver impactful experiences.
Role Responsibilities include:
• Serve as central point-of-contact for product analytics on the Core News team, connecting product, design, engineering, consumer science, and research teams
• Develop metrics for web and mobile app KPI tracking (including complex algorithm-based metrics), including the definition of new user events required for tracking and instrumentation
• Conduct detailed analyses such as user journey patterns, product feature use, user-behavior trends, user segmentation to create tangible insights that inform product strategy and/or plans.
• Identify opportunities/risks in user behaviors and patterns through quantitative analysis – e.g., comparing cohort behavior, running regressions and classifications
• Effectively form and communicate recommendations based on analysis to a variety of technical and non-technical audiences
• Operationalize access to data, dashboards and key insights - and conduct training to empower teams to self-serve the data and dashboards they need.
• Build proactive relationships with peers and cross-functional teams in the company so you understand the relevant questions and needs of the business, and use that to advise your analysis
• Manage the design, execution, and analysis of A/B/N testing programs that support data intelligence driven product experiences
• Partner with data platform and engineering team to continually interrogate the tools, methods, and processes supporting analysis to optimize the cost and function of our tech stack
• Evangelize and champion an objective data driven culture which includes the use and application of various statistical methods and tooling
Desired Experience & Characteristics include:
• 8 years' experience working on or with cross-functional product teams, preferably within online direct-to-consumer (DTC) types of companies
• 5 years of data analyst and/or data science experience including strong statistical and data modeling skills (SQL, R, Python), hands on analysis and data wrangling from complex data sets (Snowflake, Segment, AWS Redshift)
• 3 years' experience implementing and supporting self-serve product analytics and visualization tools (e.g., MixPanel, Amplitude, Looker, etc.)
• Strong domain knowledge of the end-to-end online user funnel, including demonstrated ability to partner with Product Leaders to form questions and design supporting analysis
• Demonstrated ability to manipulate, analyze, and interpret large amounts of data, organize findings, and translate into actionable insights
• Quick learner, with the ability to work independently in a matrixed environment; adaptability and a strong self-teaching ethic are highly valued
• Outstanding organizational, interpersonal (ability to influence without hierarchy) and communication skills
• Functional and conversant understanding of technologies and the role they play in the delivery of digital consumer news products
• Thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic and nimble environment which can pivot very quickly to capture opportunities from changing needs of the users and business.

• Strong work ethic, integrity and collaborative approach to work
• Academic background in quantitative field such as mathematics, statistics, physics, computer science, or engineering preferred (advanced degrees a plus)
