Sound Engineer / Designer - CNN Audio
CNN Audio is looking for a sound engineer/designer to help take our podcasts to the next sonic level. You will consult with producers/editors on a daily basis on how best to enhance episodes through music, sound effects, mixing, and mastering. The ideal candidate will have a passion for journalism, as well as a background in music and audio storytelling. Excitement around team building is a must.
The Daily
• Coordinate with producers/editors to determine the best ways to enhance storytelling through music and effects
• Engineer episodes
• Partner and coordinate with product/strategy teams on sonic branding and promotional content
• Troubleshoot audio issues
• Train and provide input to producers and reporters on meeting high audio standards and expectations
The Essentials
• 5 years of experience with sound designing and engineering long-form audio series
• Bachelor ' s, technical degree, or equivalent work experience
• Superior skillset using ProTools
• Experience with music composition/music libraries
• Proficiency with analog, digital audio gear, including microphones, recorders, interfaces
• Sharp troubleshooter of audio issues
• Knowledge of other DAWs a plus, including Audition, Ableton, and Logic
• Strong communication and collaboration skills and ability to multitask across projects
• Producing/editing experience in audio newsroom is preferred
