WarnerMedia Studios Sound Design is looking for an Associate-level sound editor/mixer to join our team. The Associate Sound Designer position is a three-year program in which selected candidates grow as sound professionals by developing and honing their skills in sound editing and mixing for picture, mentoring our junior staff, learning from and supporting our sound design staff in session work, and building relationships with our WarnerMedia network partners. The Associate Sound Designer will strengthen their creative, technical, and soft skills while gaining essential experience for a career in post-production sound.
The Daily
• Designing, editing, and mixing the post-production sound for original and promotional content for WarnerMedia brands including Cartoon Network, TCM, TBS, TNT, Turner Sports, and more
• Repairing and cleaning problematic audio recordings
• Versioning spots for air
• Recording, editing, and mixing podcasts for our network partners including TCM and Turner Sports
• Delivering compliant mixes for broadcast, social, OTT platforms, and more
• Learning to identify and work within the sonic branding of each network partner
• Contributing to our Creative Development program to help build the creativity and teamwork of our department
• Recognizing opportunities to both learn from and contribute to the department
The Essentials
• Proficiency in Pro Tools Ultimate operation and signal flow, familiarity with sound for picture workflows, and ability to step into existing templates and workflows
• A keen ear for mixing and effective sound design
• Experience mixing short- and long-form content
• Demonstrated skills in dialogue editing, sound effects editing, music editing, and re-recording mixing
• Familiarity with broadcast deliverables and specs
• Readiness to work with and learn from the talented sound designers on our team
• Ability to collaborate with editors and producers and integrate feedback to create a final deliverable that supports the partner network's vision
• Ability to stay calm under pressure and work quickly to meet deadlines while still maintaining creative quality
• Enthusiasm about being a part of a team that values collaboration over competition
• Flexibility in session availability (night, weekend, etc)
