The Job
This year, Turner Sports and National Hockey League announced a seven-year multimedia rights agreement beginning with the 2021-22 season. Fans will be able to enjoy the Stanley Cup Final and Stanley Cup Playoffs on TNT and TBS for the first time, along with 72 regular season games and the NHL Winter Classic each season. With this new partnership, Turner Sports and Bleacher Report will continue to provide premium content across multiple screens for fans to enjoy.
The Manager in Data Strategy and Insights offers a unique opportunity to work with some of the biggest sports brands in the world!
• Using data and personal knowledge about sports, this role will support the creation of research tactics, insights and storylines surrounding sports programming and sports consumers
• This is an opportunity to learn about consumer attitudes and behavior and to help generate knowledge points on emerging sports and new content platforms
• This position will play an important role in providing leadership in the areas of staff development, project management and capacity planning
• The Manager will have the opportunity to work with colleagues on all levels in the areas we support including marketing, programming, Public Relations, Strategic Planning, and digital products

The Daily
• Assisting Director and Sr. Director with developing and communicating research plans to stakeholders for all tentpole and signature events for the NHL and other sports properties.
• Working with Director and Sr. Director to provide game day reporting and insights support for PR/ media industry requests and internal reporting for Senior Management and across the Sports Division
• Managing the creation of strategy decks, post-event recaps, cross-platform reports, and ad hoc projects for the NHL and other sports properties
• Improving the quality of reporting and insights through increased usage/ integration of data visualization and reporting strategies
• Sharing responsibilities with the program and acquisitions Manager on strategy-based projects and programming estimates.
• Developing the skills, knowledge and techniques of the analysts and managing their daily work-product with the goal of building capacity and quality
• Collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data from primary and secondary sources for daily and ad hoc reporting
• Using software applications (such as: Nielsen, myEVNTS, Arianna, MRI, Star Media, etc.) to extract information and insights on television programs and consumers
• Contributing sports knowledge and analytical expertise during department meetings and strategy sessions
• This position reports to the Director, Data Strategy, and Insights
• Position is based in the Atlanta office
The Essentials
• B.S. or B.A. Degree: Business, Statistics, Social Sciences, or related fields (Master's Degree a plus)
• Experience with Nielsen software is Required
• 5+ years of experience in television/ media research (digital experience a plus)
• 3+ years as a people manager/ leader
• Outstanding organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of sports leagues, sports history and the sports industry are a must
• Previous experience in Programming or Ad Sales Research is a plus
• Ability to communicate data and analysis thru visual design and written communication
• Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel, Tableau, Looker, Omniture, Conviva, Google Analytics or similar tools
• A highly motivated self-starter
• Ability to master new software and technology
• Must have strong math skills
• Solid writing and verbal communication skills
