Primary Purpose of Position
This position will provide human resource management expertise and consultation to both executives and employees of Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. in the Asia-Pacific region, based in Hong Kong. The Executive Director will exercise strong strategic business leadership while overseeing a team of HR professionals responsible for delivering client-valued day-to-day HR services (recruiting, benefits, compensation, talent development, organizational design, HR technology, etc.). The successful candidate will be adept and agile in responding to client needs and able to effectively direct and perform multiple tracks of work simultaneously. The Executive Director will be responsible for building a strong partnership with executives across the company to strategically and effectively grow the business while operationally manage the human resources agenda.
Key Responsibilities
The focus of the role will include:
• Partner with key leaders in multiple regions (HK, Japan, India, Korea, etc) on the development and implementation of key business initiatives.
• Manage a team of both HR Leaders and HR professionals in various countries which require an understanding of different country cultures, policies and laws.
• Lead a team of HR professionals across multiple regions through engaging and inspiring leadership to drive collaboration, client service, proficiency and effectiveness to deliver HR services and programs that positively drive business results.
• Influence, coach and advise executives in organizational change, goals and structures.
• Oversee the delivering of broad range of HR support for achieving business objectives to include talent management, organizational effectiveness, leadership development, HRIS, technology, benefits, compensation, recruiting in partnership with US HR colleagues to attract, retain and develop the best talent to support Turner's businesses.
• Develop and structure a proactive, responsive and effective HR function that is a competitive advantage.
• Responsible for proactively identifying opportunities where HR can support and drive the business objectives.
• Provide proactive management, coaching and professional development support to direct reports and as a role model for effective management for the client.
Person Specification
• Must have extensive experience of working across APAC territories including territories in SE Asia.
• Extensive human resources experience with progressive human resources organizations. The candidate must have an understanding of all aspects of the human resource function. Experience within the Entertainment/Broadcasting/Media industry sector is desirable.
• Proven track record of leading people and work. The ability to inspire and influence a team, as well as peers and human resource counterparts. Track record of building individual and team capability.
• Demonstrated ability to navigate successfully in a fast paced, multi-tasking, aggressive and dynamic organization along with significant influence/negotiation skills with senior level executives. Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written, including strong presentation skills with the ability to quickly build relationships and consult with all levels of the organization.
• Advanced project management skills required to drive successful development, execution and delivery of projects. Exhibit strong analytical and problem solving capability, along with the ability to prioritize multiple priorities.
• Must possess a strong work ethic and motivation with the drive to succeed. A strong value system, personal integrity, business acumen and self-confidence/presence are essential.
• A Bachelor's Degree (Business Administration, Psychology or Human Resources a plus) is required. An MBA or MS Degree is desirable, as well as other advanced degrees, JD, PhD.
• Asian language skill preferred but not essential.
