Senior Manager - Comedy Development (ABC Studios)

Job Summary:

The ABC Studios Comedy Development team is seeking a qualified candidate for a Sr. Manager, Comedy Development role. This individual will be a member of the comedy development team and help the network build its brand through the development of innovative content.

Responsibilities:

• Implement the creative strategy as defined by the SVP of Comedy to grow unique and compelling content
• Oversee the development and production of scripted comedy series through delivery of pilot episode(s)
• Develop and maintain relationships with talent (writers, producers, directors, actors, authors, filmmakers, playwrights), identifying the creators and show runners of tomorrow and actively pursuing business with them
• Attend comedy clubs, showcases and events in order to keep up to date on up and coming talent
• Provide creative feedback during the development process
• Serving as a facilitator, arbitrator, mediator, coach, tie-breaker, etc. with talent
• Support the staffing of show talent for pilot production
• Ongoing participation in key casting decisions
• Interfacing with Production and Business Affairs teams internally , as well as PR, S&P, marketing and others as necessary
• Track, evaluate and solicit show concepts/pitches from the creative community to develop into brand appropriate comedy series.
• Manage special projects and assignments as required

Basic Qualifications:

• A minimum of 3 years' experience in development, preferable with a lens on comedy, on the studio or network side
• Demonstrated knowledge of the scripted production process
• Knowledge of, and relationships with production companies, agents, producers, etc.
• Demonstrated creative and development skills
• Self-motivated to develop new ideas
• Ability to communicate effectively to all levels of management
• Ability to multitask and manage complex projects

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in comedy development

Required Education

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
