This is a 6 month volunteer Non-Paid reporting internship program for aspiring broadcast sports journalists.
Candidates must take a writing test to demonstrate script writing ability and knowledge of most sports topics.
Interns are required to report/cover one game or feature story per week. In addition, interns are required to edit their own stories. Total time commitment will average 20 hours each week over the course of 2 days. Ideal candidates are available during the weekday as games and events often happen mid afternoon, mid week. If you cannot meet this minimum requirement, please do not apply.
Intern reporters will have the opportunity to write, produce, anchor and report on a variety of sports topics. From Friday night lights to track and field to baseball, softball, soccer, golf and much more. Sports interns should have a general idea of jargon and sports knowledge. In addition to field reporting, interns will assist show producers by following up on story leads, write anchor copy, make calls to arrange stories, and submit production requests to secure crew for shoots.
At the conclusion of the program, interns who have completed the 6 month program will receive copies of all reported stories.
This internship is geared toward applicants who are graduating or have graduated with a degree in a broadcast journalism or have equivalent field experience.
