We are currently hiring for the position of:
MANAGER, SOCIAL CONTENT
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Content, the Manager, Social Content is responsible for developing social campaigns to support TIFF’s year-round and Festival programming, and other organizational initiatives. To support this work, the Manager, Social Content will manage a year-round Social Content Producer and additional team members during the lead-up to Festival.
The right candidate excels in strategic planning, has excellent verbal and written skills, has a deep passion for film, and is immersed in social media trends and pop culture with strong creative ability to create best-in-class content and turn one-off successes into effective, repeatable formats.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop campaign-level social media content plans to support year-round (New Releases, Public Programming, Cinematheque), Festival programming and other organizational initiatives based on existing channel-level strategies to meet internal KPIs.
• Be able to link content plans and recommendations back to business objectives, strategy, data, and performance to answer the question: “Why are we doing this?”
• Work closely with other members of the Content team to ensure content plans and engagement plans effectively synthesize to support each other and the broader campaign strategy.
• Act as a key project manager for the team, including content calendar oversight and maintenance (must be a Trello super-user), quality control of best practices and editorial standards, and provide meaningful feedback and edits to posts as needed.
• Effectively manage seasonal Festival producers to execute on campaign-level strategies, including providing ongoing coaching, training and feedback on all content they create and share.
• Responsible for recommending and effectively briefing in social assets to TIFF’s Creative team based on campaign-level strategies in collaboration with Marketing
• Identify and organize original content and clips from our teams to align to strategic priorities and campaigns throughout the year.
• Oversight of Letterboxd list and story creation and accuracy according to prog list and change notifications.

WORK LOCATION:
• Office Location: 350 King Street West, Toronto, ON M5V 3X5
• Weekly in-office requirements:
• Minimum 2 days (October to May)
• Minimum 3 days (June to September)
• Festival Office Requirements: Full Time during Festival
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• Degree or diploma in film, advertising, communications or digital media is an asset (but not required).
• Must have a love and curiosity around film, filmmaking and a strong understanding of the film industry.
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience managing large social audiences and driving social performance.
• Previous experience working in the film and entertainment industry is an asset.
SKILLS:
• Demonstrated expertise in data-driven social media strategy and execution across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, Letterboxd, and X.
• Demonstrated project management skills and understanding of Trello.
• Working understanding of Adobe Photoshop and Premiere is required.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills balanced with a playful, meme-y social media voice and acumen.
• Strong interpersonal skills. Must be able to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Exceptional thought leadership – can rally several stakeholders and staff around an idea and see it through from inception to execution.
• In-depth knowledge of established and emerging social platforms (and how they can be utilized to the benefit of brand and business).
• Creative thinker with endless ideas, coupled with a passion for social media and film.
• Experience in content creation, optimization and adaptation in nimble industry or space.
• Must have previous management experience.
• Mature personal judgment, exhibiting a high level of professionalism, diplomacy, and confidentiality.
• Ability to work and respond well in fast-paced and high pressure environments with a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends during peak periods leading up to and during the Festival.
