We are currently hiring for the position of:
SENIOR MOTION DESIGNER
The Senior Motion Designer is a creative and collaborative individual who consistently delivers high-quality motion design, elevating TIFF’s creative at every opportunity. You will be working within the brand and marketing team composed of graphic and web designers, video content and social media producers, writers and copy editors, creating compelling animated brand designs and identities for TIFF, ensuring to excite and engage our audiences.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Conceptualize, create and deliver high-quality motion design across multiple platforms. ( Digital, Web, In-Cinema and Social ) for:
• Brand and marketing campaigns
• Festivals
• Marquee events
• Year round initiatives and projects
• Industry events and more
• Work collaboratively with all members of the team.
• Contribute to creative strategy, brainstorm sessions and creative ideation.
• Create pitch decks, style frames, storyboards, animatics, and present concepts and ideas to key stakeholders.
• Apply marketing principles and tactics to the designs.
• Pre-plan, execute and deliver creative motion designs, while working on multiple projects, staying on time and budget from concept to completion.
• Apply an understanding of timing, kinetics, mood and emotion to the work.
• Maintain and understand brand consistency and guidelines, and how to apply across all mediums.
• Pivot with the demands of the business when required
• Consistently meet work expectations in a fast-paced environment.
• Monitor and incorporate industry leading designs and embrace innovation.
• Design to any environment, size, scale and prep flawless files.
• Provide leadership and enthusiasm for learning and development.
• Mentor other team members to evolve their creative skills.
JOB GRADE & SALARY:
• Job Grade 3
• Job Grade Salary Range: 60 000 - 78 000
TARGET CONTRACT DATES:
• November 3, 2025
WORK LOCATION:
• Office Location: 350 King Street West, Toronto, ON M5V 3X5
• Weekly in-office requirements:
• Minimum 2 days (November to April)
• Minimum 3 days (May to October)
• Festival Office Requirements: Full Time during Festival
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• 5 years of professional experience working in design, advertising or a creative agency environment with a strong understanding and foundation of motion design, video, graphic design, art fundamentals.
• Education in design, motion, art or related field
• Versatile portfolio and reel showcasing creative concepts, motion design and various techniques combined with video across multiple platforms.
• Excellent understanding of design & typography principles
• Demonstrates a passion for film, design, typography, motion design, video, photography.
• Experience with not for profit brands and arts and cultural organizations is a plus
• Proficient at interpreting creative briefs, with excellent planning, problem-solving and organizational skills,
• Strong proficiency in Adobe CC ( After Effects, Cinema 4D, Premiere, Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign) .
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Suites, Trello and GoProof
• Advanced motion design skills
• Strong time management skills.
• Exceptional production experience, detail oriented
• Strong understanding of broadcast, digital, social, e-commerce and each platform’s workflow and how it relates to engaging and compelling campaigns.
• Excellent collaborator who is open to feedback and has effective communication skills.
• This position requires being in office on a regular basis.
