We are currently hiring for the position of:
SENIOR MANAGER, MARKET SALES – NORTH AMERICA & INNOVATION
The Senior Manager, Sales – North America & Innovation is a senior commercial role responsible for designing, driving, and delivering earned revenue strategies for TIFF: The Market, with a primary focus on exhibition, marketplace sales and Innovation hub.
Reporting to the Senior Director, Market Sales & Partnerships, this role leads day-to-day sales strategy and execution across North America, while supporting senior-level negotiations and long-term business growth. In addition to core exhibition and marketplace clients, the role is also responsible for developing targeted revenue from innovation-focused partners and emerging industry segments.
This strategic and operational role balances revenue leadership with hands-on execution, ensuring that sales models are scalable, competitive, and fully integrated with programming, marketing, operations, and communications.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Sales & Revenue Generation
• Lead and execute revenue strategies across exhibition space sales, booth packages, industry sponsorship integrations, delegate passes, advertising and promotional buys, and event-based offerings at MTCC.
• Build, manage, and drive a robust North American sales pipeline (Minimum of $5M) to achieve and exceed annual and multi-year revenue targets.
• Key focus on exhibitors, national film boards and national agencies, film sales companies, distributors, studios, and service providers.
• Develop pricing, packaging, and commercial frameworks in coordination with the Senior Director.
• Deliver accurate revenue forecasts and integrate projections into broader Market financial planning.
• Establish revenue targets and performance benchmarks for assigned portfolios and segments.
• Support sales enablement for market screenings, exhibition stands, promotional inventory, and on-site event sales, ensuring teams are equipped to maximize revenue opportunities before and during the Market.
• Support and oversee seasonal and contract sales staff, as required, to ensure effective sales execution during peak Market periods.
Innovation & Emerging Client Segments
• Develop targeted revenue opportunities with innovation-led clients, including XR, immersive content companies, technology platforms, accelerators, and innovation hubs (e.g., festival labs, start-up showcases, tech showcases).
• Integrate innovation-focused exhibitors and partners into MTCC and Market programming frameworks.
• Identify emerging business models and commercial formats relevant to evolving screen and media ecosystems.
Partnership Development & Client Management
• Identify, pitch, and secure long-term partnerships with key North American and international innovation exhibitors, content companies, service providers, and institutional partners.
• Steward relationships to ensure value delivery, renewals, and repeat participation.
• Support senior-level negotiations through proposal development, securing commitments, and managing commercial follow-through.
• Coordinate closely with central sales, operations, and programming teams to ensure seamless client execution.
Market Intelligence & Business Development
• Monitor regional and sector-specific trends across exhibition, marketplace, and innovation segments.
• Identify growth opportunities, competitive activity, and new client categories.
• Provide actionable market intelligence to inform product development and pricing strategy.
Reporting, Performance & Collaboration
• Manage sales reporting, pipeline reviews, and KPI tracking across assigned portfolios.
• Lead regular performance reviews and forecasting sessions with the Senior Director and Sales Administration.
• Work in close alignment with Market leadership, marketing, and operations to maximize commercial outcomes.
• Represent TIFF: The Market at key North American and international industry events.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
• Revenue & Conversion: Deliver and exceed revenue targets (Minimum of $5M) across MTCC exhibition sales, partnerships, and assigned client segments.
• Pipeline Management: Maintain an accurate, high-quality North American pipeline with regular forecasting and reporting.
• Client Retention & Growth: Drive repeat participation and portfolio expansion across core and innovation-focused clients.
• Regional Impact & Brand: Strengthen TIFF: The Market’s visibility and commercial positioning in North America.
• Accountability & Execution: Demonstrate strong ownership of targets, timelines, and commercial outcomes through structured reviews and reporting.
TARGET CONTRACT DATES:
• Immediate or upon availability
WORK LOCATION:
• Office Location: 350 King Street West, Toronto, ON M5V 3X5
• Weekly in-office requirements:
• Minimum 2 days (1st November – 30th April)
• Minimum 3 days (1st May – 31st October)
• Festival Office Requirements: Full Time during Festival
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Management, or a related field.
• 7–10 years of experience in exhibition sales, partnerships, business development, or revenue leadership within media, entertainment, events, or technology sectors.
• Proven success in selling large-scale exhibition and sponsorship packages.
• Strong network across film boards and national agencies, film sales companies, studios, distributors, service providers, and industry platforms.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex commercial negotiations.
• Experience working with innovation, XR, immersive, or technology clients is an asset.
• Strong commercial judgment, communication skills, and cultural fluency.
• Ability to thrive in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.
• Willingness to travel for key markets and events.
