We are currently hiring for the position of:
SENIOR COORDINATOR, GOVERNMENT & FOUNDATION RELATIONS
Reporting to the Director, Government & Foundation Relations, the Senior Coordinator, Government Relations will be responsible for building relationships and for securing annual and project funding from all levels of government and their agencies supporting TIFF's year-round and Festival programming.
The Government & Foundation Relations team cultivates and maintains strong working relationships with representatives from all levels of government, foundations and international consulates. The Senior Coordinator, Government Relations will be an important part of our enthusiastic, results-oriented team, providing exceptional grant-writing skills and adhering to stewardship requirements throughout the year.
Responsibilities
• Assist Management in leading research, identification, development, and creation of funding requests for submission to all levels of government and government agencies in conjunction with all departments within TIFF
• Support grant stewardship/maintenance including filing required reports and surveys, ensuring compliance with government/foundation contracts, invoicing and collection of funds, development of budgets, etc.
• Implement approved tactics and specific activities for solicitation of support from foundations and international consulates
• Assist Management in ensuring project management and project budget controls in place with any approved funding
• Act as a supporting contact via phone, email, and at meetings and events for TIFF's relationships with key government agencies including, but not limited to: City of Toronto; Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Sport; Ontario Arts Council; Department of Canadian Heritage & Multiculturalism, Ontario Creates, etc.
• Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to develop and manage new projects for funding by maintaining strong working relationships with staff, programmers, volunteers, and constituents
• Supervise internal data requests, sign-off processes, planning meetings, volunteers, and administration for Government and Foundation Relations, including budget-tracking and planning, as appropriate
• Support project management for a number of TIFF initiatives involving stewardship events: includes regular RE (Raiser's Edge) updates and list management and coordinating any follow-up communications
• Assist Management in the tracking of political postings and appointments, including any election results for all three levels of government and their agencies, as it pertains to public policy development for the arts and cultural sector
• Compose various pieces of TIFF correspondence for internal and external stakeholders, specifically communication briefing notes
• Coordinate Gift Processing and Gift/Contract Agreement execution
• Coordinate ticketing needs, access passes, event invitations, and venue seating charts for stakeholders at TIFF's various festivals and year-round programming
• Participate in departmental and committee meetings and recording minutes to ensure open lines of communication within the organization and to stakeholders
• Build detailed knowledge of TIFF activities, as well as providing expertise and Management support for portfolio-driven trends, research, and news
• As required, provide People Management support to any assigned staff (ie. GFR Assistant or GFR seasonal employees)
• Represent TIFF at external meetings and special events as necessary
• Other duties as assigned, including support to the broader Advancement team
Minimum Requirements
• Strong research skills, with an ability to retrieve, and efficiently organize and present information
• Experience in fundraising / government relations in the cultural sector preferred
• Strong networking skills, with an ability to act with tact and diplomacy
• Superior communication skills, both verbal and written
• Excellent organizational skills, with superior attention to detail
• Excellent computer skills and strong proficiency using Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Google software products, databases and other internet applications
• Knowledge of municipal, provincial, and federal governments is a strong asset
• Ability to maintain a calm, professional demeanor and confidentiality while interacting with stakeholders in fast-paced situations
• Adaptable to a flexible work schedule including some evenings and weekends
