This is a Full Time Job
We are currently hiring for the position of:
POSTER CATALOGUING CO-OP
Reporting to the Collections and Services Manager, the student will assist with inventorying, assessing, and cataloguing TIFF’s extensive collection of film posters. They will be responsible for rehousing and cataloguing internal donations of recent festival and film circuit film posters as well as cataloguing posters from our backlog. This project will serve to preserve, fully document, and enhance access to the over 20,000 posters in our care.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Responsible for safely rehousing posters and noting any condition issues in existing catalogue records.
• Responsible for physically unrolling and flattening recently donated posters for storage in poster cabinets.
• Required to follow RAD and internal cataloguing standards when entering information in excel docs for upload to database.
• Responsible for accurately recording accession / reference numbers on objects and in catalogue records
• Required to verify the location of materials to create or update location records
• Responsible for search of online and internal databases for film titles, dates and directors
JOB GRADE & RATE OF PAY:
• School Course Credit
TARGET CONTRACT DATES:
• October 10th to December 15th
WORK LOCATION:
• Office Location: 350 King Street West, Toronto, ON M5V 3X5
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• Experience handling and cataloguing archival materials
• Experience implementing cataloguing standards, established classification systems and controlled vocabularies
• Experience in Microsoft Excel
• Exceptional attention to detail
• Ability to work independently as well as a part of a team
• Demonstrated ability to conduct research
• Ability to follow instructions and receive feedback
• Interest in cinema is considered an asset
